Well our first frost was a little late, but we've had record snow in October and that snow was very early.
If you use the snow blower it'll be easier. Same thing here, but now it's raining, so the snow will go away. But now I hear that more snow will happen. 38° out now, ash and Norway maple in the stove. 68° in the back hall. Furnace is quiet.
-8c/17f right now in bright sunshine. Feeling lazy and since I still have a good bed of coals from last nights fire I will wait a bit until I reload. My wife, son and I will likely go for a hike today.
For some weird and unknown reason, I can see a bit of clear skies and sun right now. I expect very little of that for the next several months.
Sweet! Enjoy the sun. It can be great for your mood. I hope to spend lots of time in it today myself!
papadave is right. For the next several months we typically see very little sunshine. But then, all the clouds does keep the extreme cold away too so there is a silver lining for sure.
Yep....gotta' keep looking for the silver lining, no matter what. Spring is today only......just like furniture sales. Let's see, spring will be here mid-late April, so that's 5.5-6 months away. Time to hibernate.
Yes, but not as much as one would think. We tend to have a lot of clouds until sometime in May but we'll also have a few streaks of a few days of sun usually starting in March.
Is that because of the Great Lakes? We have our cold, and certainly our snow in Colorado. But we have more sunny days than any other state. I think it’s due to altitude. I plowed almost 20 inches of snow over the last two weeks, with some bitter cold temps. But today the snow is melting off and the sun is high in the sky. I’ve been knocking out projects around the property in a t shirt all day.
Burning some Mulberry in Delaware in the boiler...smells great and the sparks contained in the boiler. I love this wood. Whooooooooooooooood!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
60/40 mix of silver maple and pine choochin'. First time lighting off coals - I had made a small pine fire before we left to visit my grandparents and show off the new baby. Our oldest daughter came home from college for the weekend, and had a rough week - she had texted earlier in the day to say she couldn't wait to sit in front of the warm stove and relax. What kind of Dad would I be if I didn't make that happen? Did some trick or treating with our almost-3yr-old too while we were in town. They cancelled the usual Halloween night trick or treat on account of the wind and rain storm. WOrked out well. 29 here now, supposed to stay here for the night. 76 indoors.
It's still Fall. But it certainly isn't acting like it, 700 degree STT, 35 degrees outside, 70 in the back hallway of the house burning ash. it's warmer than 70 in the living room that has the stove and the TV, though. shorts and t shirt weather in here. The blower fan is on low due to the choochage.
30 here with black walnut burning. First time burning walnut. So far not bad shoulder wood. Nice bed of coals after a medium load at bedtime.
35*os...66*is....left the stove go out last night...cleaned out some ashes...fired back up with ash n walnut....
