36 now outside, only supposed to be 44 today. Windy as the dickins overnight and the fire is almost out from the heavy draft. Wind has slowed some now but still pretty breezy. Loading some ash and oak, then off to see the wizard. House is 70.....
10/31 - 11/01/2019, first freezing night, 29° in my yard at 7am. Loaded the stove at 8:30 last night with 5 year c.s.s. ash and at 7 this am it's 77° inside. I won't have to put wood in the stove until about noon. Catalytic stoves are great!
Fortunately we never got the high winds that were forecast. One gust of 30 mph was it. No snow on the ground although we did have some falling last evening. Lots of rain yesterday but have not yet looked at the rain gauge. Did not go out hunting this morning. Woke up with a screaming headache and a very sore neck. This too shall pass.
61 yesterday 31 now. Trying to use up cherry before winter. 67 now but the furnace had to help. Please forgive me for I have sinned. Just wanted to drink some coffee before going downstairs and getting it going again.
I'm guesstimating we got about 3" of snow last night. Wet and heavy. 29 OAT. 64 IAT. Fire soon, after I have my first . Mix of Red pine, White pine, and some small Ash. There might be a split of Poplar in there, but it was dark when I grabbed the armload last night, soooo..........
26f this morning (whats left of it). I feel your pain Backwoods Savage Add a couple more symptoms and it sounds like me! Get better!
27 now. Burning oak and hickory branch wood. I think one of the yankees left the door open. Sent from my LML212VL using Tapatalk
Still gusty but sunny. Saw 45 on bank display on way in to work. Started a fire before I left, might of over done it. Thermostat was creeping pass 75. At least dogs will appreciate it.
34° now. It was around 30° give or take all night. The 7" of snow we got is sticking around a while. There might be more snow the next few days they say. Ash and Siberian elm in the stove this am.
-15c/5f under clear skies right now. I just loaded some doug fir and lodgepole pine on a bed of overnight coals. Looks like a beautiful day in the Rockies!
We have snow on the ground from a week or so ago but with it being cool and clear we havent had to shovel snow for a bit. I only have a few inches of packed white stuff on my lawn. Are you expecting a cold winter? Are you cooler than normal this last October?
Yes, the guessers are saying it will be like last year. Long and cold winter. It's colder than last October was.
Western Canada is supposed to be slightly milder and dryer than normal but this October has already been a bit below average temps.
Am feeling rather negligent today. Like many, we had a good blow last night, but the wind came through on the warm side of the storm, so it didn't suck too much heat out of the house. 71F at bedtime. But it did get down to about 38F overnight, which is typically an overnight fire temp for us. House was 64F or 65F this morning when I left for work, but I didn't get up early enough to make fire. Uh oh! I trust that my wife will make a good one... at least I brought some wood into the garage before the wind hit last night! I think I'm OK... no angry texts yet. Wish me luck! Low temp tonight supposed to be 28F, so there will certainly be fire tonight!
I've been burning a few pine splits since late morning. It's going down near freezing tonight so I'm loading up w 3 year dried red oak before bed then chucking some 2.5 year dried pine in the stove for the AM feed.
