Also I want to add that I was speaking an hour ago to a client of mine two hours north of Fort McMurray Alberta who said it was only -8c/17.6f there! I know they will dominate cold weather going forward but its interesting how weather affects different regions.
We are in the mid to upper 20s here overnight and mid 30s to low 40s during the day. Thankfully we have been starting to dry out a bit.
Little pine and silver maple cooking this morning to get Mrs Papi and the little ones warmed up for the day. Pretty wet out this morning. Only got down to 45 overnight, but the chill definitely needs chasing out of the house.
53f as of 530 am here in Northeast Pennsylvania. No fire last night. I was contemplating it before leaving for work last night, but it was 73f in the upstairs living room, and I was running late for work. The last few days was burning silver maple. It's about 2 years seasoned, and starts real good, just doesn't last too long. Not bad for shoulder season.
Well, I see that another year's worth of time has not helped the weather forecasters in not compromising their forecasts in order to garnish higher viewer numbers. Meaning, they are still trying to outdo each other with just how bad the weather will be. We didn't get any snow. Maybe a frost that is a bit heavy, but that's all. I'm glad they are wrong! 21f right now.
No fire since sunday morning. Maybe one tonight, just to take chill and dampness out of air. I won't complain after seeing the temps some of you have. I like it cold and some snow, but not yet. Stay warm!!
-21c/-6f right now which is a bit surprising for this time of year. Burned larch overnight and just now loaded lodgepole pine on a good bed of coals. Its a beautiful sunny day!
I finally brought a cord of 2yr red maple into the garage. Its still 65* during the day and 50ish +\- at night.... but this weekend its showing 50’s during the day and 30’s at night, so its officially going to be “shoulder” season.
Got down to 38F over night so the wife and girls demand a fire anytime it will go below 40 outside. Burning nothing but cottonwood and quaking aspen at this point. Finally got the fireplace installed and the woodshed built. The natural gas won't be on anytime soon.
No doubt! We were colder than Siberia Jan or Feb 2014, you too? Kiddo wanted a happy pumpkin so we did, mouth was smiling, but then he started to sag, we were cracking up after putting him out that night because his smile turned around and looked like a frown....Grumpy pumpy.
