I don't understand why it seems almost everyone does the Halloween stuff on days other than on Halloween.
I put wood in the stove before we went to bed last night. The first time this year. So far I've been lighting a fire only in the mornings and it is still warm when we go to bed. But last night seemed more cold so I put a couple sticks in there. House stayed nice and warm all night. Now I wonder how long before we start burning with a full stove. Probably soon.
It got down to 31° last night. Glad I was able to get the stove maintenance done yesterday to start a fire last night. Burning ash and silver maple. It was 40 earlier, now it shows 50° on the thermometer. The internet sites agree.
Seems like it always has been that way and we used to always let it be. I hope they don't make other Holidays move to different dates to suit the masses.
57° now outside. I reloaded with a few chunkies this am. 71° inside. I'll reload this evening for overnight.
Got bored...rainy 45* day...started day drinking...decided to load the Jotul up with some silver maple and a big piece of red oak in the middle. Back room is up to 80*, rest of house at 68* from 64* from 11am.
40 and rainy burning tulip and pine .. Liz said she was cold. STT got to 600 for 3 hours.. Expecting to crack windows later
-3c/26f right now with spruce keeping the house warm. Were expecting a big drop in temps for a few days.
Hard to believe but it is 67 degrees here now. Feels like spring for sure. It is not going to last though as much cooler air coming our way. A few floods in the area but not really bad.
Well, the cottage water got shut off and drained this morning. Low 20's and high teens for overnight temps this week dictated that action! Gonna see some "hard water" this week. Oh yeah, maybe 4" by tomorrow morning...... Nothing like wildwest got though.
I just looked at radar for our area and there appears to be some snow flying around. I haven't seen any of it yet here but it is coming.
-15c/5f right now. We were away from the house today until around 7 pm so the stove was cold. When I got home I made a top down fire of cedar and then loaded the stove with lodgepole pine that topped out at around 650f. Im almost ready for an overnight burn of larch (my best wood at 19 mbtus). Looks like a cool night for the goblins on Halloween!
