It got hot for a time yesterday. Turned the air on maybe around 2:30 or 3:00 then turned it off around 8:00. Wonderful night for sleeping. Beautiful day here so far. Wish it could stay like this the rest of the summer but the next 6 weeks can bring some summer weather for sure.
you never get used to the very hot weather, we suffer here with no air con, when its hot you need it but not worth it here, most of the year its cool. in england.
88 F here, but the dewpoint is 61, so not bad in the shade. Humidity & heat supposed to ramp up tomorrow & into the foreseeable future, ugh! They're actually calling it a heatwave. Can't wait for Autumn.
It hit 88 today with a forecast of 82. Temp is slowly dropping, but I turned on the air about 20 minutes ago. I'll leave it on until later, then open up the windows again. The next several days should be quite warm, so the plan is to just leave the air on while we're gone on a bit of a vacation. Relatives dog-sitting for us. Air will be on in the car and our hotel room......guaranteed.
Got home from Saginaw after noon and decided to turn the air on before it get's hot. House was not hot yet but this way the ac doesn't have to work as hard and we stay comfortable.
Has anyone tried any of the "arctic clothing"? I bought some of the t-shirts and yes, they do seem to keep me a bit cooler. Quite light weight and snug fitting. The only bad thing I've noticed was a couple times I could smell myself and old sweat is not too pleasing.
We just had storm move through that broke some 90f heat. It is still raining after at least 5" in a short time, and it cooled down to 70f which is nice.
Turned the air conditioner off this morning but just turned it back on. It is not hot but is really sticky. Just had a short shower too but it was most like a fine mist so not much fell. Perhaps that made it worse.
We had a storm come through, actually still raining. Not much but when it first came through it took temps from 87 to about 78 in about 10 min. Took the humidity with it also.
You know that wet oak sound in your stove? Its so hot out in Delmarva that I can hear my stacks doing the same thing! I bet I could season fresh cut white oak in a few weeks at this temp!! I hate the summer, I really do. I cringe thinking what my forefathers dealt with farming this area prior to AC hahahaha I cant imagine laying in bed at night with the windows open when its this hot and not being miserable... id live in the creek to keep cool!
Nope I live here in SC it takes at least 2.5 years on oak. That third summer really gets it down to burnable territory.
I hear ya Clem....we usually have a few doses of 90's and maybe a day or 2 of 100. Not common though. I really am just fine with it. Inevitably I will hear the whiners, it's too hot....same ones that say, it's too cold.....blah, blah, blah.
for this time of year the name of this thread should be changed..."Hotter here, what's your temp? how you Staying Cool?
