38F damp misty with an east wind. Really unpleasant night. Supposed to be nice this weekend though, so off to the log deck we go! Oak in the boiler.
20 minutes shy of good morning. 32 here now and Elm & Boxelder flames dancing together nicely. We spent the day on yard and garden work now that the snow is gone except for a pile here and there. The nice thing about the 3 yr. plan is, I feel no pressure to HAVE TO cut wood. In the past before FHC that was always so. I do have cords to process, but now it's on my scheduele, as I won't be needing it till 2022 or "23". God, that sounds way in the future, doesn't it?
Right around freezing here this morning but there is a cold wind dropping the feel another 10 or so. It will be overcast all day with rain for the weekend.
25 here and the wind is finally gone. Good thing there aren’t any leaves on the trees or the power outages would’ve been much worse. Still waiting for the warmup. 77 inside, I just put a couple uglies in the stove.
Mid 40's this morning with a small oak fire going in the stove. Meeting a friend around noon and going to the range to make some noise
A wet day here but looks like its about done except some sprinkles. Looking forward to 4 days in a row with the forecasted highs in the 60's. Love it! Have lots planned; just hope I can do at least half of them.
Got down to the forecast 27ºF last night (according to the forecasters) . All my outdoor thermometers were in the greenhouse monitoring the different temps under extra blankets. Sun came out this morning so it looked like a two fire morning, but then it clouded up and hasn't gotten above 45ºF outside. Just threw a third load of pine in about a an hour ago despite it being a bit warm in here.
Back to winter. 31 and snowing some big sloppy flakes here. Just an inch so far - hope it doesn't turn to ice overnight as predicted. Pine and Sugar maple doing the warming duties, 74 indoors.
Wet and chilly today, but not cold. My ma is visiting and requested a “little fire” so I carted in the pile of odds and ends and mossy bits. A maple root put out a lot of heat. A few of the gamier cherry branches. I have to make room for the three year plan, right?
Hey ya'll, it's 34 here and cold, damp & dreary after last nights wet weather. I just lit the fire with hard Maple and Elm, just what we need with the IAT @ 57*. We have a small house with a small living room in which the stove is the focal point. So the rooms warm up quite quickly. Soon we will be toasty warm, enjoy your day everyone!
46f and the first steady spring rain this morning in western suburbs of Mpls. The continuous snowpack here is now gone, but we still have piles on the north side of the house, as well as the mountains of snow from plowing at the end of our cull de sac. Ice is off the small ponds, but the lakes still are covered. I have enough wood here for one or two more cold blasts we will surely be getting. Then the process of hauling split and dry wood down from up north begins with a half a pickup load per cabin trip through the end of October.
32 here also. No sun on the outlook for a few days and gonna get rain for those few days. That's really gonna knock down the snow pack!
Here are three pics of the cottage. The difference between the first and second pic is 2 weeks; between the 2nd and 3rd pic is 1 week.
