?? What oak? The one that is still standing?

Looks like too much of a chance for debris to fall while cutting it, no? Gotta be careful!

24 here now, first fire a in a few days. Elm and hard Maple. I haven't got any cutting in yet as my sawhorses have a couple inches of ice around them still. I'm working on pulling some rounds from last year out of the woods. Expect temps to be in the upper teens by AM.

OK, here it is on the ground. And home in my driveway. It just had one little hook at the top that had caught on another tree. IMG_20190327_35343.jpg 10327.jpeg

Tonight could be our last "cold" night of the year...the forecast looks like we are about to get into a stretch of real nice weather.

I have a tiny bit of wood left next to the boiler....maybe enough to make DHW for 3 or 4 more days then I'll probably shut it down for the year.

Overall I burned 5.5 cord this year.

Same here! Rest of the week lows in the mid to upper 40's. Although this AM was pretty chilly about 29-30 degrees, fresh load of Ash before heading off to work!

Brought more wood to the porch yesterday. Now they say we're about to warm up. That's okay. The wood will wait to get burned.

That's really efficient usage for a boiler. We went through three times that! Your setup must have been installed pretty tight. Do is you do it yourself?

40 here today with wind - got some more wood cut down and brought in after work. Mrs Papi has the house at 77 on white pine when I got home, so we're letting that load peter out a bit before the overnight fill.

Installed it myself. My old wood stove in the basement would have used 7 cord without DHW this winter.

Well I'd have to say you did a great job!! Now I remember reading about the initial firing this winter, right? And that you were impressed with how stingy it was eating on your wood supply. I know it must feel great to be out the other side of winter with your hard work not only holding up, but running like a top and saving time and money to boot!

Got enough snow this evening to cover the roads once more.

The roofs are almost bare and would have been this week, but...…….

Still plenty out in the yards.

30 and snowing here, enough so everything is white again so far, maybe 1-3” before it’s done later this morning. Just enough to cover everything temporarily and make the rest melt faster when the temperature climbs towards 50 this afternoon if the forecast is right. 77 inside still on coals.
Another week and I should be able to get to the garden but it’ll be a bit longer before I can get to the box blade.

I burned the last 2 nights and I think I'm finished for the season. I've already shut down the stove in the shop and moved the wood to the rack for the house. I have less that 20 splits left that I allotted for this season, I'm lucky because I usually run out way before the season ends.

Man oh man, that's rough! "Make the rest melt faster"? Really?
