It surely does. I was out chucking wood over the fence earlier and almost boiled over wearing a toque. It's -7 c or 19 f with a 10 mph wind on top of that. Still don't care for the wind, but at least we're in normal weather now for the most part.

Here's hoping the polar vortex is gone back to where ever it came from!

Ice everywhere. I used the front bucket of the M59 to pull the snow away from the back of the barn for my wife’s horses. Then used the backhoe to try to break up the ice. Had some luck and then scraped everything down again only to find more ice underneath! :picard:At least it’s ruffed up now. Put a mix of wood shavings and hay down for traction and called it good. Come on spring.

Well, they didn't make me split wood for the sauna! It was a lovely one, on a lake.

48ºF was the high for the day . Currently 44ºF.
Lots of snow melt today. Lots of mud.
Felt a little chilly at 68ºF so had a pine fire this aft. At 6:30PM loaded up three splits of red maple and then checked out the thermometers. OOps, at 73ºF really didn't need to load the maple. Oh, well.

Finally shoveled off a major portion of the snow load on top of the wood pile. (on top of the rubber roofing) Man, that stuff was packed solid and varied from 2-3 feet deep. Should be a little easier digging out some chunks now!

Hit the 40 mark today! Sadly, being a productive member of society kept me at work for most of it, but it's all good - there are many more days like this to come! Wife's got a stomach bug (or really bad morning sickness) and chasing a toddler is enough, so I packed the stove pretty tight before work so she wouldn't have to mess with it. Set it for low and slow and it's still keeping the indoors at 72 15+hrs later. Stirred the coals and opened the draft a couple hours ago. I could get used to this 40* business. :)

Sitting at 30°F Been snowing for 2 days straight, but until now or hadn't had the chance to really accumulate with tremors in the 30s. Heading down to mid teens overnight. Burning a mix of hardwoods.

    20 now heading for 13.

Personally, with the clear skies, I'm with the belief that we will be below that "13" mark!

Was a crazy warm day, would have guess it would be -40 on this day instead of +40. 99EB8575-770E-4FA1-B0C6-CC4512CB5030.png

We were about 2c/35f as a high today with sun and lots of wind. Im busy planning my ice fishing trips for the next week or so since my days for this are numbered.....
Im waiting on some coals to do a night time burn but might not use the good wood since it doesnt really matter to me at these temps if I have to rebuild a fire after work tomorrow.

Was out in a T-shirt, carhart. Split the load of spruce from Friday and some birch from last week.

    I added a few more feet to the wood pile. 6ECFC7F1-317F-4567-AE1C-CCABA93C8202.jpeg 4CBE7A11-19E6-432B-8571-C68FEAE32FE1.jpeg 6B4EFF93-9C56-4C7F-B68C-603BBA72B0B9.jpeg 720691D7-D201-4ABA-A3AD-6A7A6F329207.jpeg

It barely nudged the 32°F / 0°C mark today for the first time since Jan. 27. The average temperature for February is 10.4°F / -12.0°C. The year it was -9.4°F / -23°C, Indian Head weather station.
