26 here after a beautiful sunny day. Mrs Papi has ash and Sugar maple keeping the house at 74. Decided to mount the plow in preparation for the forecasted storms. Put the little one to bed and decided to push around the couple inches we got the other day.. Oops! The rotten MM2 headgear finally let go. This is gonna be expensive! Pulled out the old Ariens and she fired on the second pull with fresh gas. Back to snowblower life until I find a replacement frame for the plow. Now where did I leave the ramps so I can get this orange machine into the truck...?
30F here & cloudy. Not much wind. Hauled home a full trailer of Sugar Maple that's gonna get split tomorrow. Oak & Locust in the boiler. Cold sets back in next week they say. That'll generate some lake effect snow.
I think it got up to 32f here today, and I was stuck driving the stupid under-powered Transit Connect across the state to North Platte fighting cross winds all day. Talking a few inches tomorrow night and -10 for Monday morning when I have to go to Ames and Oskaloosa, Ia. Have a good weekend everyone.
-21c/-6f at the moment. As every other night I have the highly coveted gold standard softwood species known as western larch (19 mbtus) in the box to take me through to the mid morning.
-22°F / -30°C now. We just got through the coldest February since 1936. Burning some dead, but surprisingly hot Manitoba Maple (Box Elder). It burns fast and will be out by morning, so it's DED Elm until breakfast time. 200 miles south of saskwoodburner. Sent by my Huawei modem.
18 and 78. We’re being threatened with a couple inches of snow today unless our neighbors in MA and NH keep it, which they’re more than welcome to do! 6-10” predicted for Sunday night/Monday. Last year about this time we got 22” followed pretty closely by another 15” so we can’t complain too much....yet The wife and I enjoyed a nice stroll around the Old Port and a great lunch to celebrate our 39th yesterday. It was just above freezing but the sun felt great!
27° and the snow is knocking at our door, but not here yet. Only an inch today, but 6" or so Sunday night into Monday. I never did get my sugar maple out of the driveway yesterday, we spent the whole day down in Cambridge coaxing a dishwasher out of its hole. Glad you had a good feed, Maina, and happy anniversary! My husband and I are coming up on 30 years together. We made do with pizza slices in the car yesterday, full-blown rush hour at 3P. Dam I hate driving down there!
Thanks Midwinter! I feel for ya, I hate driving anywhere south of here! The further north the better lol. The whole Boston area traffic really sucks!
Congrats on the 39 years together Maina 26* here this morning. We only got a dusting of snow over night. How much did you get bear 1998?
We got about 2 inches....freezin drizzle now...suppose to get up to 40*s....Sunday callin for 4-8....typical close to spring chit
28 outside, 71 inside. The weatherguessers keep going back and forth for Sunday on the white stuff. 1 to 3,2 to 4, 4 to 8. Heading out now for a load on the Ford. Supposed to hit 40 and sunny. I have split almost every night this week with the construction lights, next weekend we turn the clocks
36 out and 76 in. I burned hickory in the house and shop overnight, reloaded the house with Aspen and the shop with hickory and it had a full bed of coals. It looks like the stacks and racks I have close and dedicated to this year will last and be empty by seasons end. I'm estimating that I went through 3 cords plus burning 2 stoves almost continuously.
12 F here this morning. Maple and Cherry in the Wood Gun. Might get a little snow tonight, but not much.
Chains work wonders for traction. I use our GT to plow (not this year, nor last) and after I put the chains on, it was like night and day. Thinking about a set for the front too.
