I think I'll stay out a da woods then. I did see wind watch on for Jefferson county but not St. Lawrence. I can't remember what channel I was watching that on though. Maybe the channel 10 news out of Syracuse.
53º here right now and supposed to hit mid 60's tomorrow so no fire for us. Showing the temps heading down after 5 pm tomorrow so I'll probably start a fire before bed, see if I can singe Santa's beard a bit....
Hmmm. Maybe I had saw on the mind then. Or wife, three kids, and two dogs on the mind. Or maybe you had sausage on the mind and ............
Yucky weather for Christmas. Now, before more rain, going to take the trash out to the road and bring some wood into the house..... Last night burned my first wood from this years stacks (all odds and ends and uglies before that load). 4 sugar splits. Burned nicely. Loaded at 6 PM, beautiful secondaries for 3-4 hours, burned down to coals now with the house cooling, 12 hours later, so I have just reloaded with one split from the stacks and a larger curved split log from the uglies...kind of a candy cane shape, appropriate for Christmas eve. Won't fit in the stove with more than one other split, so a good time to burn it, as it is relatively mild out and I don't need a big fire today. Winds are supposed to develop over the day, getting up over 50 MPH this evening, and continuing through Christmas day. Not really looking forward to this. Have to put some splits on the cover of my newly stacked wood.....
37º and dark and damp here. Nice and toasty warm in the house though with the Christmas tree lights all a glow. Large splits of Ash and Pine burning in the boiler.
42° here in southern PA,no fire last night, but am knocking the chill/damp off this morning with some walnut.
35 Here this morning. Threw some Oak and a couple of pieces of ash on to get the tide rolling. But lastnight after I got home, I threw a load of ash on and had some awesome secondaries going on. I was kinda of mesimerized by the ghost flames for a while. Awwww...hopefully will get back to burning more wood here, basically its been warm enough for 1 load a day...
We never had a fire last night since it was warm enough from the cooking fire we started at 4, it's about 37 this morning with rain so we have some Cherry in the Liberty. Merry Christmas
Warm and WINDY here over night and early this morning. I woke up several times over night. Is it Santa?! Is it Santa?! Just the wind. But he showed up while I was asleep! Wind has mellowed out mostly but still blowing. Currently 42 out.
Actually slept through the nite and got up to a empty stove. No biggie though as its only 38f and the house was still quite warm. Swamp Maple is brewing now.
38 this morning. Ash,Pine,Spruce mix burning. The boiler has no problem going 10-12 hours on 3/4 of a chamber of wood at these temps.
About 17 this morning and it dumped about 5 inches last night. Let the fire go out about 11 last night and got up this morning and house was still sitting at 62. Not bad.
It was about 35 this morning, still burning the Cherry but with the colder weather coming in for next week, we brought in some Beech.
Warmer days are great days to prepare for colder days! So I moved a bunch of white oak and pin oak from my stacks to my covered deck which is next up after my red maple runs out in a few days...
It's a nice 36 degrees here this morning so we're still burning the Cherry. This afternoon after I'm done stacking we'll be putting in more Beech with some American Hophornbeam.
