Oak (not the furniture) and hickory This morning 1/21/2019 Outside. Shot through the screen. Inside Actually it was 7:29am, I never changed the time on the thermostat because we don't use the furnace.
We have cloud cover and are insulate Just watched the weather and temps vary a lot here in Oh. Some reports of -20F with out wind chill. We have cloud cover and probably fourteen inches of snow here in the secondary snow belt. Your right I should turn that sarcasm into humility because my little bity hoard isn't much to brag about. Forecast is 40F and rain by Wednesday morning
We are sitting at 2f now. Snow through tomorrow evening with 2-4" of light stuff, followed by cold with a low in Mpls area of -15f by Thursday morning. This is starting to feel more like it!
One of my buddies up north had -37f along the upper Gunflint trail over the weekend. They are sitting with over 2' of snow and a lot of slush out on the lakes.
1° here, burning old scrounged white oak. The baseboard radiators are warm, so the gas boiler is picking up the slack. I'm going to be dancing in the rain Thursday, when it's 50°! Squirrel is waiting his turn for the sunflower seeds on the front step.
-3 degrees outside. Woke up this morning and the house was 57 degrees in the stove room. I want to trade my morso for a Fireview.
Current temp -7°F heading up to -3°F today, but the winds are keeping it really chilly outside. Burning birch 70°F inside temp.
Cool crisp morning, lab pups slept until I got up a little after 7. Reloaded sugar in the family room and had to do a restart in the shop but the temp was 49 inside.
This is the coldest so far this year. -18 and the wind is still howling. I just put a mix of Cherry, Maple, one split that looked like Oak, and a couple small rounds of Ash in the Wood Gun.
Its just cold about 12 below without wind.. Windchill 25 to 40 below.. Only idiots outside without face masks and proper hats are tv weather's reporters 77 inside sugar maple
-20 with this wind chill, I been feeding the stove non stop with locust and ash to keep the house at 69f,
Woke up to about 5*. Haven't ventured out to the boiler yet, but water temp is fine so I'll give it a few more hours.
