19 here this morning, burnt a fire last night and am burning another 40-45lbs of Hickory this morning. Wife wants it warmer in the house, 70-72 isn't warm enough I guess. Oh well.
32f here have mixture of black walnut and red elm. The weather ppl are saying we might get several more inches of snow this weekend with Arctic cold blast in the negative zero bring it on just nee to bring in some more wood to make it thru rest of the week. Hope everyone is having a good day.
35 and drizzle again today. The dampness in the air makes it feel much colder than what it really is. Supposed to get a heavy dose of winter starting Friday that lasts through next week.
Same here on the ash cleanout. 33 oat now @ noon is the warmest it's been in a while. It took a day to burn the coals down with frequent stirring, but I know the cold is coming back hard, so it was time to get er'done.
Weather guessers are saying something about maybe getting 1-4 inches of snow Friday into Saturday. If it happens, it will be the biggest snowfall so far this winter
Dang right it is not warm enough. Burning wood you should have it whatever temperature it takes to feel comfy. We keep ours around 80 and love it.
Guessers are already cutting back on the amount of snow expected for the weekend. The first batch tomorrow is expected to all go south of us; hooray! Then Saturday now they are saying only 2". Hooray! Have not plowed the driveways even once this winter and hope to keep it that way as long as possible. For sure any wood that is down now is frozen to the ground. But the tractor makes easy work of getting that loose.
20’s tonight. I put all black cherry on the hearth, curious how it does solo over night. Its 3yrs seasoned so its prime. Sunday night into Monday they are saying single digits here... that just is beyond rare here as we are surrounded by big water to keep it warm... i still have a few packs of compressed bricks, might bring them out to play then.
24 here, feels like 14 with the wind, which is unpleasant. Watching for a little snow Thursday night, and 8-12 sunday. Tinkered with the plow a bit this afternoon, thankfully (knock wood) seem to have it raising and angling again. funny how resistant it is to the controls when the fluid seems to have seeped out of the ram nut.
Loaded the OWB with a mix of Ash, Cherry, Maple and a couple of pieces of Hardhack 30*F very windy going down to 3* overnight. Weather guessers calling for possible major snowstorm over the weekend, Generator gassed, Tractor fueled and plugged in, I am ready.
32 here with ash and red elm in the stove. We’re ready for the cold!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
21* and 72* burning the usual. Hoping you all out East get the snow your looking for. Sunday still looking here.
0f right now. Just dumped some ashes from the OWB and then gave it a meal for the overnight hours. The sky is clear, about 1/2 moon or so but because of the clear sky, we'll be colder than the 5 (already are) they had predicted. I'm thinking maybe -10 by morning.
19F here & clear. My guess would be somewhere about 10 overnight. Loaded some Oak & Cherry in the boiler. Should probably shovel it out before the cold comes this weekend.
Yup. Thats what I thought when I noticed the ash level even with the door opening. Normally, I'l push them to the rear and get a couple more weeks time. but WTH.........I've got more time than money!
Current temp 11°F heading down to -12°F overnight with a WC as low as -25°F with lingering flurries. All birch in the oakleaf.
