Another mild one, sitting at -8 c feels -13 c or 18 f feels 9 f. It's funny how this is absolutely ugly weather in October, yet great in mid January. Oil furnace only for today while the coals burn down, might as well give the stove and stack a scrub while it's nice out. Reset the clock until the start of March. I know I scrub my chimney too often, but it's great peace of mind.

Go ahead. Let it peak at 700; just more warmth.

Try burning down coals by watching the fire. Just about the time it is down to coals or a little before, open that draft full! Then the stove will hold the heat while burning the coals down.

I do it more than I need to as well but the peace of mind makes us sleep better.
-10c/14f with another inversion day. I dont mind inversions but we often will get low lying cloud that makes it a bit gloomy. I loaded the stove with lodgepole pine and once it was settled in I headed off to work. Have a great day everyone!

Was sunny again this morning but cloudy now. Deer still bedded but will not be able to wait much longer before heading to the woods to get more logs.

Not sure of temp right now but ash in the stove. Some day we'll run out of it... Not looking forward to that day either.

I'll be getting more ash out of the woods this afternoon. Trying to get something for the guys to play with at the gtg. After all, we're running a bit low on wood now. Not!

30’s today, 20’s maybe teens tonight which is as bad as it gets in Delmarva by far.

I just sorted thru and pulled out an entire stove load of my 3-4yr honey locust I scored a huge load of in VA when we put in a 1mile long access eoad going up a mountain.

I got tons of honey locust and black cherry from that job, and I mean tons. I dont usually have my guys truck wood all the way back to the shore but I saw the locust which we just dont have, so everything came back. The locust is the shizzle!! Ha!

Beautiful sunset here tonight, clouds looked pretty cool with the light from the sun. The clouds will lock in the days warmth, only heading to 0°F tonight- burning all birch.

The OWB is tied into the forced air system. That is how the heat is distributed throughout the house.

Closing the door would not have a great effect on the room's temp as there are 2 supply air and one return air registers/grilles in there.

27F with a an icy mix forecast overnight. That'll be great, not! Last night was 12 oat & 73 is, boiler was still at 175 at 8:00 AM. Loaded with some Oak & Elm tonight. Supposed to get cold & snow this weekend. That may delay the fence row cutting job. Cold is no problem, but I hate hauling a loaded trailer on slick roads. Stay tuned.
