Current temp 12°F with heavy winds heading down to 0°F overnight. Been snowing for the past 36 hours, but only around a foot total. Trees are weighed down quite a bit, lights flickering. Only a high of 5°F tomorrow- stove will be running full tilt.

Suppose to go below zero here overnight. Almost there now.

A mix of Ash Rounds, and Cherry and Maple splits in the Wood Gun for the long haul.

23F now, dipping into the upper teens, no wind. Was very nice out tonight. Elm & Ash in the boiler. 4 extra splits to see what happens. Couple more "cold" days & then warming up again. Hoping the ground stays hard enough to skid logs this weekend. We'll see.

DF99F1D5-84AA-4B06-9899-EA0685AB6561.png Back my junior and senior year I drove the bus, at least 2 times a week. Was always pizzd off when I could not drive my truck to school and had to drive the bus. Was about 10 of us that had to drive was a ole Thomas with a gas 396 and 4 speed. The parents all called around each night to see who had practice or work. They figured it out, if more than one could drive they always made the younger one drive. So the older boys could enjoy their senior year. Will never forget the day all us littles were on the bus, principal came on the bus said the driver (pregnant) wasn’t coming. He had already called our parents, they gave Mr Swindle permission to see who could move the bus without stalling. I was 14 that day, first time driving the bus. I had a farm license. This would never happen in today’s world.

Back to our regularly scheduled cold. Today did not seem to get warmer. I am sure it moved a degree or two.

12 feels like 5 with a gale warning until 11 am. High in the teens today and around zero tonight. I think winter has arrived. Not nearly as cold as Well Seasoned and Canadian border VT thankfully! As it should be!
Finally figured out the oil burner late yesterday evening, and it was the transformer. It finally quit working while I was testing it. We’ve been just running it for hot water morning and evenings, then shutting it off between to save oil and cause I hate listening to it. Home Depot had a few in stock locally.
