38 OST 72 IST. Let the fire go out this morning. Got close to 50 here today. Started it back up about 2 hours ago. More Ash and a piece of Black Locust in the stove. Top 2 inches of the yard got soft today. Tomorrow they say a high of 36 big difference from last year.

39F here, just topped up the boiler with some Elm & a bit of Poplar I found. Going after a 3+' Sugar Maple stem tomorrow. Supposed to be upper 30's & sun, so it should be decent for bucking that pig.

Only warmed up to -36.2 it’s -38 now will be interesting to see what the morning brings. Will be a cold work day for sure. Went out to split wood I brought home last week. Mom came out to help, took her over an hour to get a few photos. The cold drains the battery and the screen turns blue. 73EBAE7F-B33B-474D-8CFE-24D56FC1FE48.png C8437A7F-3A49-48B5-9C2E-F2673DAC3C95.jpeg A1AB7C04-A544-4A97-B7CE-558BFE4EE789.jpeg A1FDD377-5A0A-40EA-88B3-F20862B878C5.jpeg 1161E215-E46A-40BD-A3B4-F3C5EE0B3998.jpeg

What sort of fluid and starting procedure do you use on your splitter at your temperatures? Tarp and propane blower for a while before starting it? Lowest temperature I've run my splitter down here was around 0, and starting it was a bear. I let it warm for a good ten minutes before operating the valve, too, for fear of the state of my hydraulic fluid.

+32 here, humid and calm. Had some rain today, which is making things slick. Thankfully the ground stayed frozen. 6am load of sugar maple and ash just coals now, will reload with red and sugar for overnight when I go back in from the garage.

21f burning oak slabs .. You know a quick eye lashes bear figure pinch will fix that eye lashes freezing together issue and might have to do it every 10 mins at -36 that's crazy .

I have full synthetic fluid, I have been keeping it in the heated garage. So not sure how cold it will start at. It’s on my list to find out.
