Currently-28 this morning 10:28 local, got the stove in the garage going it’s time to mount the square grinder. Get that journey started.
32 here, which seems to be right around the norm for our ten day guesscast. No single digit lows in the radar. Weird weather year here, as in many parts of the country from what's shown here. Emptied the ash pan into the driveway after work, burning some small pine splits to take down the coals before the night load. 72 inside is a little cool for Mrs Papi, but it's by design as she's cooking up some home made bagels for tomorrow's breakfast.
We hit 47f in MPLS today which set a new record high for date. Don't know what to make of it, as there have previous highs in the upper 40s going to back to 1880 for January. So for our relatively mild winter overall is cutting down wood consumption, although things could certainly even out with extended colder than average temperatures in March and April.
Here's our extended forecast according to the local station. So far no sign of any real Winter weather. Burning Elm in the boiler & glad to have some sun.
25.7 °F @ 9:30 pm mst. Juniper got it going and now feeding it hardwoods. Can't believe the temps you guys are getting up north. Aside from Rope and the Canadians it's looking far too warm.
A very mild day and still so far this evening. Grabbed a pull sled full of wood down by a slough (a little too much effort) and BBQ'ed some big steaks. Temp hanging in at -8 C or 18 F and should see -14 C tonight and some wind. Ugly swamp poplar in the stove.
26f burning oak slabs 81f in living room ..anyone have a weather station . Ambient weather 2909a is one I thinking on ordering so I can post more details like high and low pressure wind . This thread needs lot entries . Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk
I didn't know you had to burn wood in Arizona. I see you got some snow there too. Polar vortex dropped in to say hello .. that's pretty crazy it goes down that far. I burn 80,000,0000 BTUs to the houses so far in Minnesota this year . That takes 18,160 lbs of slabs. Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk
28 OAT, it warmed up a little overnight with clouds moving in. Supposed to be in the upper 30’s with some sleet and freezing rain this afternoon, but not accumulating much. Probably just enough to make it slick. It’s not looking real cold for the next week, maybe a couple nights in the teens, and the Tuesday snowstorm is starting to look like it might be a mixed mess again. Must be because I put the snowblower on the tractor yesterday. They were talking back to back storms on Tuesday and Wednesday but who knows? We’ll get what we get.
Another nice and mild day here. Didn't try to figure it out, just accepted it and was grateful. The company we have this weekend is pretty much thin blooded and way too cold for her. 99 mentioned that if this had been normal January weather............
29 now outside and 76 inside reloaded stove with hickory an hour ago and I'm going top it with walnut soon. Rain moved in yesterday afternoon and stayed until late evening, supposed to be clear with highs in mid to upper 40's.
29 here, mid 40s expected high today. Burning down red elm coals at the moment. Going to load with cherry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just loaded the shop stove, had 1 hickory left in the stove and added a sugar and walnut split, got down to 51 overnight.
Most places in Arizona above 5000 feet in elevation get snow. Where I'm at we almost always get snow, how much varies greatly depending upon the year. From a couple of inches to over 3 ft. My wife's family lives up around the Alexandria area. Parkers on up to Fergus. You should definitely get a weather station and hook it up to wunderground. We need more stations reporting in Minnesota.
