Nothing like Watertown NY, they might get 1-3 feet Monday - Tuesday.... then on Friday the same, if they get four feet then it melts, someone will be wet!
It's 29F and we're looking at 3 ish inches tonight. Already got about half of that. Getting home in the s10 with bald rear tires was a special kind of treat. Driving the old Silverado tomorrow! I hate putting gas in that truck, but I love driving it. Was downstairs watching fhc videos on the tv. Poor little propane fireplace down there. We used to love it! Then came back upstairs, and the princess is just DOMINATING. Filled it up noonish and closed it up. Still nice fire in it when I got home tonight. What a stove. 80 degrees in here right now. I'll have to close off the bedroom to get to sleep. Goodnight, all.
32ยบ and a very little snow on the ground. Some snow coming down now. Ash, a big ugly hunk of Maple, and a little Pine burning in the boiler. Nice and cozy here.
I'll either take a shot or go through my SD card and post a picture later today...I hope. It's been snowing and Artan's been barking to go out all afternoon. We were out this morning from before 8 AM to after 10, but I guess that wasn't enough for him. He doesn't normally bark to go out...the lure of the snow is just too much for him...that and the fact that the snow is covering all the "dear" little ticks so he is once again allowed to go off leash..... I spent the morning moving a half cord of pretty large and awkward pieces of wood, that I had stacked right in the center of the yard so it would get lots of wind. It has been awaiting a friend who is coming with a splitter . He was coming in Sept or Oct, but now it's late Nov or Dec. The pile was right where the snowplow needs to shove the snow from my road, and was two stacks deep, three plus high and about 7 or 8 long. I had a fun morning moving all that wet wood. The good news is it feels pretty light and dry. About half Ironwood(HopHorn Beam) and half sugar maple, with just a few pieces of ash. I actually ended up bringing a lot of the ironwood into the house. If I thought it would go through the door of my stove, then it is inside.
Going North on 41 turn right at the bridge in Griffith and an hour and a half up the mountains. Did ya do that test today?
18 degrees, I believe it was 60 a week ago. Welcome to Ohio! Burning lots and lots of white ash, and some random pieces of red oak and locust. Just about ran myself out of the house last night, got it a little too warm. Can't beat this wood heat, loving it...
Burning some Elm shorts, 22 here. Looks like there's light at the end of the tunnel, going to start to warm up Saturday, after a low of 13 on Thursday night, next Monday a high near 46
32 degrees at the moment so we're burning some dead Elm, 79 in the basement and 72 in the upstairs living room.
Its 46 should drop to the mid 20's put some ash in at 6am this morning came home from work the coals were still hot the house temp was 67 ..Tomorrow will be in the teens
Headed down into the upper teens with a high of 35 tomorrow... that's January cold front kind of temps We had 5"+ of rain last night high was 46 this morning after the rain moved through, been dropping all day. Couple of red oak splits here and there throughout the day - been one of those lazy do nothing days, I like those once in a while
Cold coming in from the west... the moisture coming up from the Gulf, we've seen this pattern before.
you preparing to get hammered? I can't imagine if that rain last night(they originally forecasted ~1-1.5") and we had 5+of rain fell as snow - snowpacalyse in the SE for sure. can't say I really miss shoveling snow - plowing with my grandfather was always good times though
It looks like the cold comes in the mid west then over to the east, the jet stream is bringing the moisture up from the gulf so when they meet it's usually some heavy snow or ice.
