Not sure if the jet stream got drunk or what but our cold weather rolled out of here like the devil was chasing it in the last 20 hours. Last night was -36 C without counting the wind, and right now, -4 C. A 32 C change is incredible. In F terms, we're at 26 f right now, up from -32 f. The temp will drop yet overnight, but still amazed. Big poplar kindling in the stove.
22 feels like 13 and 75 inside on last nights coals. Cold blustery typical January day ahead except there isn’t much snow on the ground, jus a couple inches topped with ice. We’re still above average snowfall for the season thanks to the big storms in November. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop...We’re supposed to get another 4” tonight and early tomorrow then back to 40 on Friday. Winter is just playing with us so far.
31 here and it’s 75 IAT. Half ash half cherry in the IS. Mild temps all this week. I moved some cherry to the house for shoulder wood. I should have left ice fishing rods put up and left boat out!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Missed another month or so of the thread, too much too read. But we have been un seasonable warm. Burning just a few splits at the time and just a handful at night. It's been in the sixties high the last few days. New years eve it was 70f.
38* F here at the moment. I moved a facecird of mixed hardwoods into the barn before the last rain. Mostly a mix of walnut, ash, and mulberry. I also saw some hackberry, Cherry, and honey locust in it. It doesn’t take much to heat the house when it’s that warm outside. I’m good with it though, let the coals do some work and save the stacks.
Last time I checked, before lights out (10ish I think), it was -8. It has warmed up overnight to 4 now. Clouds must have moved in....
Morning everyone we are in a 3 day warm up, it was in the high teens yesterday. Mom had the boys bring in wood, I cut a load after work.
Warm weather stuck around overnight, sitting at -5 C or 22 f for now and maybe above freezing temps, snow or rain later. Yuck.
Suns out started at 6 degrees up to 16 now... Stacked another cord of pine.. Rest in a frozen pile.. House is warm 75..
36 and about as damp as it can get without actually raining....got some fog/drizzle going on. Boiler had a good bed of hedge coals going. Threw one more split on to last until I load it up this evening.
39*....70* is....cherry n ash in the hole. Damp n dreary...headin back out to garage to install more shelves...gotta get goodies off the floor
