We're right at freezing now. Didn't think our overnight was going to be that warm! We are also at 8hrs and 35 min of daylight...............daylight should be getting longer shortly!
32°F / 1°C. About 15 - 20°F warmer than normal, only about 2-3 inches of snow on the level. I'm burning some of the last killed DED elm, so it hasn't had time to rot. Hard cutting and burns hot. 200 miles south of saskwoodburner.
First time in a decade or more, I will not have a white Christmas. Forecast for this weekend is 45 in rain. A little bit depressing cuz you know I had a foot-and-a-half at Thanksgiving
It’s a weird forecast for late December that’s for sure. I’m hoping there isn’t too much flooding. That could ruin someone’s Christmas. Here they’re saying we might see a few flurries on Christmas Eve day but probably not enough to cover the ground. Maybe we’ll get lucky. I have to say I prefer what we’re getting to what’s predicted in the Midwest at Christmas. Looks nasty
I'm off my feet a couple days due to minor surgery, I stacked the wood rack on the porch prior with hickory sugar and walnut all separated and told my wife hickory overnight, sugar daytime and walnut if it gets over 40 outside. Loaded with sugar now and walnut going in next fill.
upper 30's here, and no snow! We had our winter weather in the fall, and now our fall weather in the winter! Burning up that last of my Box Elder and having trouble keeping the house cool enough, it's getting in the mid 70's before bed! Who said Box Elder is junk wood?
Never froze overnight and it is in the upper 30's now. Finally got the last of the ice scraped off of the driveway. Scattered sprinkles today and I have a few pieces of red oak in the Lopi.
Sorry to hear that! It sucks for those who are used to a white Christmas being a normal thing. I grew up in Vancouver Canada and the chance of them having a white Christmas is slim although it has happened. Ive lived in the Rockies since 97 and every has Christmas has been white although there was one year where it was a close call. We are quite mild right now at 1c but we can blame that on an El Nino winter. Weve had quite a bit of wet snow over the last week or so and quite frankly Im getting tired of shoveling. We should cool off a few days before Christmas.
Its no problem Sean the warm-up will allow us to fix the snowmobiles the kids. Dinged.. get the ice out of the driveway and stack some wood the foot of snow after Halloween stopped. There still some white patches on north hills.. Could always drive up 20 miles to hills and be in snow.
It won't bother me if we don't have a white Christmas. It used to but no longer. This morning it was 30 when I got up. That was the low. This afternoon we got to 45! Wow! Yet, yesterday at 37 felt warmer than today at 45. Figure that one out! Maybe though it was because I was working in the woods. Today I was in and out of the woods and on the tractor all afternoon moving wood chips. So I was just basically sitting on the tractor and naturally moving it will feel colder. But that is why I wanted to get the wood chips moved now rather than wait until it was colder. I did get some of the things I left in the woods yesterday but did not haul out any logs because of the soft ground.
