Got up to 40 today and now it is at 33. Supposed to have rising temps overnight with mid 40's for tomorrow followed by dropping temps next week. Doesn't take much shoulder wood to get the house up to 80.

I'm sure you've got a lot more of that than we do! Just a few persistent inches in the ground here, which is now frozen into a PITA crust of hell. :)

We've gotten over 20" the past few weeks, some melted, probably a solid 15" on the ground

Finally fired up the wood boiler a week ago tomorrow. Been holding off to try to get away for a Thanksgiving trip down south to see our kids but the snow's & very cold temps for this time of year........ I heard on the news today that this was the coldest thanksgiving on record! DSC00137.JPG the bright side is the shop is a cozy 58* with the radiant floor heat from the boiler and the house is under ware temperature:yes:

Just woke up from a nap...ugh...ok, I was sleeping and the cat woke me up. Can't believe it's -7f...weather report said it was only going down to 5f...I live outside of the burbs, but we rarely get that much colder. This is like January weather for my area. Time to look at moving to South Carolina.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Little cold here on Lake Erie. Absolutely zero insulation in this cottage but the combo of the Lopi and newly installed AC with heat pump is keeping us warm. Sugar maple in the lopi. Not sure about the heat pump, it’s like magic. I honestly have no idea how a heat pump works, just had to help dad install it for the AC mostly. It’s not blowing really hot air like a furnace but it does feel warm, kind of weird.

Also tradition to take the old ford 2000 for a spin down the beach. No headlights required, big moon tonight.

Y'all can keep the cold down there for a while. I still need to get in some more wood before real cold hits here again.
+15°F here. Poplar in the stove.

10° here this morning. I burned all hawthorn yesterday, which produced a monumental amount of coals. Nice heat, but it didn't cook us out. Burning arborvitae chunks now to try and get rid of some coals.

6 degrees here this morning, 75 in the stove room, burning a little pine to reduce the coals and raise the temperature a bit. We definitely set some record cold temperatures yesterday with bell zero chill factor all day. Little less windy and cold today but not by much. Good day to stay in by the fire. We don’t do the crazy shopping thing, except online maybe. Too crazy out there :faint:

10F here as well. Loaded the stove before bed, still woke up to a fairly cold house this am. Gotta get some locust into the shed to mix in on the cold nights. It was snowed on before I had a chance to move it.

Well Saturday will be our day outside, before we get sogged out with rain. Won't catch me at the mall! I have to drive past it today, that will be bad enough.
