41* here this morning. I lit a fire last night. Used some small oak pieces and some hickory. I let it go out this morning. Weather here is going to be wet and chilly for the next couple days.

73 & sunny on Monday, except for Tuesday's very windy upper 40's its been low-mid 60's since. Not bad yesterday,62 by 2PM.But that changed overnight - a blustery 31 degrees right now, wind chill of 19.High later of 42,low tomorrow morning of 23 expected with high of 45.Finally a hard freeze, its about 2 weeks later than usual this Fall.

Warm in here thanks to more of that scrap Cherry,Walnut chunks/uglies & some long dead Redbud thanks to my neighbor.

I got a little this year but I'm not sure if it's dry yet. Is yours real dry and if so does it feel pretty dense? I'm thinking it would be some damm good wood, BTU-wise...

Pretty dry, just over 3 big wheelbarrow loads from that tree last summer.Had been dead 2-3 years easily, most is riddled with scattered borer holes.Fairly dense what there is of it,maybe a bit more than Walnut, not quite as much as Red/Black Oak or Ash.Biggest pieces were 9-10" diameter.

Huh, thought it would be more dense, maybe like Dogwood. That's a big Redbud...don't see anything near that big in our woods. Yard tree, no doubt...

Oh, myyyyy! o_O Just went outside to get some ugly-stack pics (of course the camera battery was dead,) it's 42 out there, 20+ below normal, with a gusty, blustery NW wind. I've had the Dutchwest putting along at 325 stove top since 8:00 AM, still got half the load left. So lessee, about 12 hrs. on a 1.5 fire box...that would be a BK-esque 36 hrs. if I triple the fire box size to equal the King...

I forgot to mention, had just a few pellets of sleet when I went out there. We're gonna walk the dog in the woods shortly; Hope the trees are breaking this wind a bit...

Not too cold here, lower 40s, but damp & rainy. Burning some 3 to 4 inch silver maple branches to get the dampness out of the house. Small fire in the evening and another at first light.

    Shoulder season has begun....

45 here now with a mix of ash and punky oak branches. Working pretty well. This will be the first weekend we will be running the stove the entire time. Supposed to top out in the 40's with lows near freezing. I can't wait!

Yep, that's us too. The wind is howling here at the base of the mountain. I threw a couple pieces of ash in the FP this morning instead of letting it burn out. Looks like it will be constant for the next few days.

Mid 20's the last couple of nights. 40 - 50 during the day. Still burning Walnut, saving the Ash and Mulberry for later.

I just lit up this morning for the first time of the season. I could have lit up one day a few weeks ago, but I was waiting for a stove pipe I custom ordered.

11/1/2014, first light up! Feels good in here now! :D
