Thanks. Sorry been gone awhile so didnt see this until just now. We have 4 fires within a close proximity to us but none that are threatening the communities in my valley at this point. We had a short stint of rain yesterday and the air smelled like when you were putting water on your campfire. The second pic is looking across the valley at a forest fire taken from a logging road look out two days ago. You cant really see much through the smoke but at night you can see the trees candling. this one is about 10 minutes highway drive from my house but isnt threatening any populated area. Lightning caused its thought. The first one is a helicopter that would drop into the creek below with a bladder to pick up water and then it would climb back up to the fire and target drop on the fire. We have been hearing helicopters throughout the days coming and going on a regular basis. Good luck trying to book a helicopter in BC right now. The last two are from a hike in the sub alpine that I took with family this afternoon.
Stay safe Sean, I'm sure everyone in a small town like your area is keeping an eye on the elderly and such. I'll pray for soaking rain, good to hear from you again.
57 gorgeous degrees this AM and I'm gonna enjoy it. The next three days are going be in the mid to high 90's, ugh.
That's a good question actually. Much as our province seems like a frozen wasteland all the time, we can have some incredibly warm weather (by Saskatchewan standards) late into the fall. I'd guess I usually start having little chase the chill fires about 3rd week of Sept.
Thanks. We know everyone on our street so keep an eye on the older folks. We are supposed to get a bit of rain later today so we will see what the skies bring!
70* here.....dewpoint 70*.....heat index today of 100*...... gettin too late in the year for this chit!!!
Austria wins the prize! We’re in August and people across the EU should be enjoying summer’s sweltering temperatures. But baffling images show Germany and Austria covered in SNOW as temperatures dropped up to 15 degrees from one day to another.... Heavy rain in Salzburg and in Austria’s most southern state, Carinthia, East Tyrol, say a downpour of between 50 and 100l in just 24 hours. Germany also a summer wonderland on its highest mountain, the Zugspitze , where up to 10 inches of fresh snow fell as thermometers hit minus seven. But a German Weather Service (DWD) meteorologist said warmer temperatures are set for a comeback as early as Tuesday. Snow in August in Austria and Germany mountains as temperatures drop 15 degrees
Upper 80's today with dew point in the mid 70's. Not a good day for working outside. We will be taking my mom into a clinic for an eye exam.
Zero degrees Celsius down here tonight 31F. As usual I have eucalyptus burning keeping it at 29C/85F inside. It dropped below freezing here last night as well and its forecast to do it again tomorrow night. I'm ready for winter to end now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thats neat to see. I wonder what elevation that is? I could use some of that. We did get snow on the mountain tops over night and our current temp is 8c/46f and a bit of rain on the forest fires.
Both dewpoint and humidity are above 70 so it is downright awful outside. The air conditioner got turned on about an hour ago. Probably will stay on through tomorrow.
Was chilly again last night, and a small fire in the evening looked after us well. Sitting at 13 C or 55 F for the day, and some +3 C or 37 F for tonight. Going to try burning up all the branches and uglies this fall before hitting the good stuff.
