Got up at 3am and loaded up with some 3 or 4 year oak. Its nice back in the house again, it was getting a bit cool. Its 35 degrees outside. Coffee in hand, getting ready to get some splitting started in a bit.

24f early this morning about 6:30. 9:30 its up to 34f and supposed to be heading toward 40f. Burning some more cherry after last nights load of ash and elm. Raked everything to the middle of the stove at 6:30 and opened the air to burn down a big pile of coals.

????? That was all the wood that I first got. It came from a micro burst about 4 or 5 miles down the road. I'm going to assume red. That's the wood that's in my new storage shed by the house. But I'm heading down to the base of the hill to get some smaller splits for this week (mulberry & locust & walnut & persimmon). It's beautiful outside & just the right hand splitting temp.

Very warm today, 68, and 70 for tomorrow. We'll be getting some of bogydave's Alaska air stream coming down for a visit next week, freeze forecast for overnight Wednesday. It's good to have wood.

Do you get decent sized persimmon up there? I find them around here the ones on my property are small but still put off fruit - always wondered if it was any good as a smoker wood.

This little jump in temperature is allowing us to burn more shoulder season wood, just brought another load in tonight.

We should be done burning the rest of the shoulder season wood by the end of next week.

Yup. The Wood Gun went over 12 hours today with 3/4 of a burn chamber full of wood in it. With these kind of temps it is nice to load twice a day and walk away.

I let my stove go on a small load of gum last night still blowing at 2pm today -the house was 82 with the HVAC circulating.
Started a small fire this evening so I could be comfortable in my shorts:fire: supposed to get back into the 70's this week - more like it around here being early December and all;)

About 25 on the back porch this morning. Boiler having no problems going 12 hours with these temps. If we could just stay around these temps for a good long time, that would be sweet. But I have a feeling after that cold spell at the end of November that we are going to have some seriously cold stuff in January and February.

I'm sure they would be good for the smoker, since most fruit bearing trees are. The ones I've seen are probably like what size your seeing there. But I found one on craigslist that was cut down several years ago that was 14-16 inches wide.

We've hit our high for the day already (38*)...temp is falling and we'll get some snow/sleet/ice later this evening...then 3" - 5" of white stuff by tomorrow afternoon. Low of 10* Friday night.

I was out doing a few things in the yard last night in a t-shirt...it was 67*.
