Craig’s list add came up for 7 ash trees down and already cut to length help yourself. It was five minutes from home. I had to wait until about noon for the homeowner to reply ok to come over, he couldn’t have been nicer and even let me drive the truck down to the wood. I was able to get a quick load of it, and just can’t believe my luck of how sweet of a score it is, but now of all times for it to warm up, going from high in the teens to a week of 50s. I can’t get anymore of the wood until it gets cold again if it’s still there. I don’t want to tear up his yard and the wood is in a frozen wetland that was thawing on me as I was racing to get out of there before the ground started to soften and I would risk damaging his yard.
That is a nice score, any chance of a smaller hauler? Atv, lawn tractor etc. Weather apparently can't be counted on this year.
Just ask the land owner if he'll let there until you can get it without ruttin up things....hopefully..he'll understand n will do that for ya....
It’s supposed to drop into the 20’s tonight, hopefully it will re-freez the inch or so that thawed. I am going to do just as you suggested and talk to him about holding it for me. Hopefully he will appreciate my concern about not damaging his property and decide he doesn’t want people showing up who don’t have the same respect and courtesy and will agree.
Never hurts to ask. I was thinking the same on an alternate hauler.......something smaller might work w/o tearing things up.
I just got some good news and bad news. The good, ground is already frozen again and the homeowner just got back to me that I am welcome to more in the morning. Now for the bad, he graciously declined my offer to give him a case of beer as a thank you so I am not going to be able to resolve the beer of choice debate.
Yeah with that stuff you have to power it down to keep it from coming back up. Lol Good work Winston !
