Dennis what size are your feet are they wide? Are you allergic to wool. Here's why I ask. In Woodstock Vermont there is a sheep farm and when sheep are slaughtered the make some slippers with a rubber sole that your feet will be warm in. The edges are actually sewn together with fish line. my right lower leg has circulation issues and is always cold. I have had many sheep skin stuff that did not keep you warm this is different

WW, the thermacell inserts are being returned as they proved just about worthless. This is why I am also reluctant to think about buying the heated clothing that uses the same technology. So for now, when hunting I use the Mr Buddy heater. Dress light on top and use heater to keep lower parts relatively warm.

Thanks Zap but at a rating of -40 I highly doubt they'd work well for me. I have some now that are rated much, much lower. Even have a pair of what we call the Jeff King boot. Jeff helped Cabela design these and it is what he wears on the Iditarod sled dog race and other races in Alaska and the Yukon. They are good but my feet will still get cold rather quickly. They also are very bulky and look like they'd be difficult to walk in but for walking they are extremely good. They are also very high so keep snow out nicely too.

It's the Scotland by the Yard in Quechee Vermont just south of Woodstock Vermont where sheepskin came from but they dont carry them on website.... mine made by friend of family that used to work there and is currently visiting family out of state but she will call me when she gets home.... She wants her fireplace starting "I don't need a man to help me build a fire kit" or a trunk load of kindling and bigger pieces of kiln dried hardwoods i bring her... i get from furniture factory .. and chop saw and put in boxes for her..... I will see what sizes she has already made... plus she gives me a gallon or 2nd scoolag? a Norwegian holiday toasting drink :drunk:

There are also heated socks that run on batteries. Maybe good ones have Li Ion batteries that can last a long time. If they work you might get by with lighter boots in a larger than normal size and the socks turned on. maybe even a second pair of large socks over top of the electric ones. I saw some in the LeBarons catalog. LeBarons are on line so can google and see. Good Luck!

I checked the LeBaron's website and the Cabellas website. The world famous battery socks are more than twice as expensive at Cabellas as they are at LeBarons if currency differential is taken into account. This does not surprise me as I have found this in the past as well. Ditto Bass Pro. I have no clue as to how much it cost to ship to US. If one of our members goes up to Montreal on occasion they might pu and ship to you - that is if you want to try them. Lebarons also have the little insert things that get hot and last 8 hours then they are done. I have never used either so cannot testify. I notice one of our members is looking into pure wool. If a person could get one pair that fits perfect and then a second pair larger to go over without being tight and both inside a roomy and light insulated boot that might prove helpful. My heart goes out to you man.

Take a que from the boys that guard the unknown soldier tomb at Arlington , super thick soles on the shoes/boots to insulate from ground weather hot or cold. All the fancy stuffin on the top side don't mean squat if its coming up through the bottom. Dang hard to find anything constructed properly commercially. Yep I get the cold feet syndrome as well, unless I am moving around constantly

There is a product called Artic Shield if you are sitting and not walking around they make an overshoe that is about 10-12" tall. Internal is foil lined so I reflects most heat as well as being wind proof. Tends to work well if you wear lighter shoes/boots as most people don't lace them as tight = better blood flow and more heat to reflect.
I agree with the statement if your feet are cold out on a hat and I'll add wear gloves of best mittens!

    Good luck

chris I fully agree....but who makes them? I do have a pair that are really thick soled and Jeff King (runs the Iditarod) helped design. They are good but still could be much better.
