January 29, will be the 75th anniversary of the Coast Guard's greatest loss with the Serpens exploded off Guadalcanal during WW2. A co worker has taken his parents to Arlington, where all the remains were interred together after the war. His father lost a brother, and attended the dedication in 1950. He also lost a grandfather in the United States Army during the Civil War. God rest their souls. I have an admiration for the CG who rescued my father adrift at sea for several days. The pilot died in a helicopter collision not long afterward. Salute! USS Serpens Memorial
