Got the black walnut in to logs and a good amount done on the oak. Still have a couple oaks down on the pond and will start on them tomorrow or the next day. Still no power so working in 100 degrees heat and no ac to come in to at dark sucks. But , a dip in the pool and laying in bed seems to be manageable to get to sleep at least. Will post better photos when I get the wood yard a bit more organized. Just throwing and going now to get through it.

Quite a mess, but looks like youve made a good dent in it.

Great news! Years back we lost power during August. Miserably humid at the time (for here anyhow)
We did a lot of grilling as it didnt get restored fast enough. We are a quarter mile off the road and our shared driveway has been blocked by blowovers a few times.

Worked until dark again , lots of work done but I didn’t take much time for photos. Took these two. Found some wire , carbide chain paid for itself today.

this oak almost looks hybrid to me , some limbs/bark looks very much oak and some resemble a pecan to me. I will try and get better pics tomorrow. There is a grafted hickory/oak on the property so maybe so. Not the best at tree identification admittedly

I would love to make boards but have no mill. I may leave them in logs for a while in case someone comes along wanting them or I get an Alaskan mill

I see it as white oak. It will have a whiskey/vanilla aroma if such. Do you run the carbide chain all the time? Ive though of buying a loop of it for cutting dirty logs.

no I don’t. I bought two for the railroad ties and use them now if I find metal or , like you said a dirty log. Does pretty well. Cuts slower of course and seems to loosen more than a regular chain.

Nice work, keep cool, dealing with the heat here too. Dragged the brush piles to the bonfire on a tarp, it's a good workout if I was more fit:faint:

Yeah , heat isn’t a joke ! Pushing triple digits here. Humidity is a killer too. Drank about a gallon of water and on to an adult beverage currently….

started at 6am and called it around 3pm with no lunch break ( too hot to eat ) so I earned my “pappys Pepsi” and pool time today.
