Finally got around to taking the second snapped tree down in my treeline. The 1st pic shows the first one I took down last week. Then the last 2 pics are taking the second one down. Not an ideal felling situation when the top is snapped and hung up in a dead tree. But I got it down safely. More pics of the tree later this evening when I get home.
Yeah, they got them good last year and almost the same spot this year. I think I am gonna use the small branches from these 2 trees and make a natural blind. About 30 yards further back is where they rubbed this year, then they follow the line back. I think they come from across the street, hit the little apple orchard next door and walk the tree line back? Or vise versa
Snapped line trees can be incredibly frustrating - its seems like the cordage output is so low for the work With a lighter saw on the limbing duty though...seems to be halfway fun
Unfortunately, all of this is going for cookies.. I don't want to be breaking a saw in at the GTG. I'd rather them be broke in before I let 30 other people run them. But either way, it is a lot of work for a lot of nothing. I have probably cut 600 cookies in the last week and half. Still have another 600 left to cut. Pick at the start of the day.. I will have my whole wood landing coated in chips in another week. Which is good, because the chips keep the grass and weeds down some.

You need to get some friends over to help get some hours on the saws. If someone called me up and said "hey, you wanna come over and drink beer and run some saws?" I'd be like "hell yeah....I'll bring the beer".
I'm confuzzled Dex......why not break in the saws by just bucking up some rounds? Is it harder on the saw than cookies? I don't get it, but I'm not a saw guy.
As much fuel as he intends to burn, he would have to cut several years worth of wood in order to get the same amount of run time.
In order to run about 7 tanks through 3 or 4 saws (each). I would need about 10 + cord of firewood. If I cut a few logs into 1/2" cookies, each log is about a cord or so of firewood "cuts". (in a 15 ft log, I would make 9 to 10 cuts to get 18" long rounds. I get those same 10 cuts in about 4" or 5" of wood. I basically need to run a copious amount of fuel through 4 saws and cutting cookies is the fastest way to do so).
