Would Murphys oil soap be good in this situation?

Looks like you were working in the basement...is there a new stove nearby yet?

Unfortunately the new stove is in the garage still. The only time the rental place and my schedule work is on saturdays. They have been filled with family stuff.... have kids they say...

Borax is a great cleaner for stuff that needs to be sterilized / cleaned but without changing the color of stuff. Kills mold and most algae due to its PH but leaves most physical properties the same.

I salvaged a 1987 Dodge D50 pickup that had been left to rot for three years here in the rainforest of W. NC using Borax. The interior was so toxic with mold and mice turds you couldn't sit in it. But now it's a great little wood truck.

Hit it with a solution of spray bleach solution to kill any mouse turd germs. Let it dry then give it a light sand blasting, then stain and/or varnish.

It has a nice patina that I'd hate to mess up with bleach or other chemicals. Stiff bristle brush, warm lightly soapy water. Let it dry for a couple days and paste wax it.
