Straight grain chunks/nugs get stacked on top of regular length stuff for normal use. Uglies get thrown on a pile for fire pit enjoyment.
Got two Ugly Boxes in the back under my deck. Each holds about half a cord (4'x4'x4'). Had to build box #2 last year as I was getting a bunch of chunks through paying more attention to cutting regular lengths. Filled it up much faster than I thought I would during the Summer here. We burn our "Chuncklies" (additional title for you, buZZsaw BRAD ) during the Shoulder, especially in the AM when you just need a quick fire to take the edge off. It's at the point where I count the Ugly Boxes as one of my cords for the Three Year Plan (which I will get back to this Fall).
