Yikes! That looks like just about the worste place on the planet to be bucking. 1' from a rock wall, wood laying on asphalt in a pile of leaves! ;). Glad to hear it was a one time thing.... My chain hurts just looking at that!

Well, I made my list for my wife yesterday. My top hoarder item is a leather tool belt for all my needs when cutting in the woods. Husky makes one, but the quality of the material used in the belt and it's pouches is more like pleather. Also, I don't need or use the gripping tools the side pouches are made for:

Then I saw the belt that Bill Girard (Game of Logging instructor) wore at the first class we hosted at our farm. I asked him where he got it and it turns out a guy in a neighboring town made it for him. He said the design is based on the Husky belt as far as the wide back and the back section with a first aid pouch, file and scrench , a place to hook your Spencer tape to, etc, but the side pockets are made to hold 12" wedges. He gave me the name of the guy and said the cost is high ($200 which is what Husky gets for theirs) but I can assure you that the quality of Bill's belt is light-years better. Photo below:

Nice belt, but I don't know how he can work with all that "stuff" hanging off the belt!! I have a hard time with things attached to me like that... I always wonder how cops operate with guns, cuffs, flashliths, night-sticks.... all HEAVY and dangling around their wastes... pain I the you know what!

But I'd love a small belt that could hold 1 or 2 small wedges, and the treestuff chainsaw multi tool, and maybe have a metal hook thingy to hang a small and lightweight hatchet on. That would still be to heavy / annoying for me, but I could probably get used to it.

I dont see how they sit in the car with all that crap!!! Id have to take it all out , then when you need ton leave inna hurry and get out you dont have any of it with you so that would be against policy im sure!

I think one of the members here is a cop. Seems like I was responding on none of his threads of posts this week? Maybe someone in the how did you get started in wood burning?

I hear you, but the inconvenience of having to walk to the tractor/Ranger to get a wedge or a scrench is more of a pain to me. I think it's more like a carpentry belt; you just get used to it the more you use it. In my eyes, he is carrying the bare minimum: Long wedges (which are much easier to set and use than a short one due to the angle), scrench, files, first aid kit/trauma bandage and Spencer tape. I use the tape a lot when felling as I try to cut logs for timber whether it ends up that way or just for firewood to minimize waste. I always used 8" wedges until I tried a 12" and now I'd never go back!

Wedges I can see. But when felling a tree I just toss them by the tree. Unless your cutting small stuff you won't cut that many in a day will you? I dont cut logs out of trees as I cut firewood and have no use for a tape. I am not anal about FW lengths. And I dont need files in a belt. Do you have your gas and oil on that belt too or you just carry the cans? I can buck several a cord easy before I feel the chain is duller than I want to continue. I then just swap the chain. And do that each time needed till I grind them all back at the house.

I have all that stuff but I am never far from the truck so I just go get it. I am cutting firewood so I am never far from the truck as I have to carry it there anyway.

When I do work around the house I wear one. Its convenient. Especially when doing electrical work. Can keep switches, nuts, all the pliers and screwdrivers I needs at hand. But I always feel like my pants are falling off!

When I am doing something that takes a lot of varying tools I wear a nice tool belt and load it based on the job. When I am doing something that only needs a couple of tools and maybe one kind of fastener I just set up the job site with what I need and ignore the belt. Now I need to find things like a wedge pocket to hang from my belt, meanwhile I have a 3 gallon bucket that will carry my stump vice, chain oil, files and guide and miscellaneous small tools like the scrench.

You can make a vise out of a stump out in the woods, no need to carry a vise!

That's a lot of cutting for a dull or a rocked chain. If mine was sharp enough to do that I would wait until I was out of fuel and then use my stump vise.

When I cut in an area I make one of these on the first tree I drop. I try to keep my chain touched up before letting it get so dull I couldn't cut at all, but of course accidents happen...

Again, whatever works for you. Just trying to offer another suggestion/opinion. No offense is intended.
