I did three loads of some small branches with the DR Chipper before noon, we also have some chips that I did last year that we'll use to level up one of our stacking areas. We should have enough chips to level up for six f/c. I'll level up one rack that will hold 2 f/c and then move some seasoned wood there so we can drop a pine and then dig a stump out.
It's been a good little chipper, we first bought it the summer after the house was built when I was limbing up dead pine for walking trails and 14 years later we're still going. Depending on how much I use it, I'll either change the oil once a year or twice if I use it a lot. Since we put in the outside fireplace, we use it less because we'll burn the limbs.
So, if I have 2 inch or so branches, would that chipper actually work or would I be accused of abusing it? I would like to own a chipper but am not going to baby it.
I think it takes 3 or 3.5 inch branches but I'll need to get into the manual for the facts.You don't have to baby it but you will notice different sounds when your feeding the bigger stuff faster than it will take it so feed it at a reasonable rate and it should be fine. This is just a chipper.
