Will using 45 degree elbow cause draft/cleaning issues?

Welcome Matthewchopswood to the forum. Nice house design. I understand in all this your probably real busy. But if you get the time please fill us in on insulation and you mentioned indoor boiler my BIL, did one of those with radiant heat floors it's awesome!

I wish my house was at that stage so I could ensure it was done right..

Just a hint in electrical department. have each of kids bedrooms because there are three I assume you have or will have kids.. have each room run to its own breaker so if your sooner than you think teenager develops an attitude you can kill power to their room. I laugh at parents today that ground lids to their room with a TV Internet tablet and I phone... sounds like a vacation to me!

Anyway you can smoke test the pipe that runs to the basement to check for leaks before in gets totally enclosed?

    Nice suggestion!
I might be able to hook up a stove for a test. The hard part will be slowing the guys hanging drywall down. They are rocking and rolling

Quite probably the messiest time of construction....mudding. sanding, painting.
Don't know if you have forced air system there. If so, cover as much of the openings (supplys and returns) as you can so you don't fill up your ductwork system with drywall dust.

Not necessarily true! We hired a guy for drywall and was amazed at how little dust there was. Very, very little, and he closed off each room as he did it so what little was there did not go to other areas of the house. Man, he was fast too!

The sheet metal guy who put in the system actually plated all of the openings and covered the returns with plastic. I will check all the openings again before they get sanding.

Dennis, we're talking whole house here...not just a room or two. We too have had work done (touch up) i a couple rooms upstairs that didn't create a problem.
But if I were to take you to a job site or two, you would see exactly what I'm talking about!

I have a stove upstairs with two 45's and the draft is a non issue. I have a stove downstairs in the basement and it has two 90's and it does not draft nearly as well as the upstairs even though the pipe is much longer than the one upstairs.

We moved to the new house over the weekend. I think the fireplace and mantel turned out really nice. We used a natural stone from WV and stained the mantel with a blend of special and dark walnut mine ax stain. Hopefully I will have more time to hack away at the invasive species (Autumn Olive and Tree of Heaven) that are prolific on the property.

We have some nice mature trees on the property (red oaks, pin oaks, walnuts, wild cherry) but have a battle ahead of us with the invasives and wild grape vine. I have actually been cutting some of the autumn olive to firewood length. Figure I might as well season some to mix with the better wood. Otherwise it would end up on a burn pile or need to be chipped. Anyone have any luck burning it? image.jpeg

Very nice; that is going to be a nice place to sit and cuddle with that someone special on a cold winter's night.
