Slid the lamp over a bit, so no need for dipping sauce. Hopefully the chicks will be in this week since my son is on winter break and can keep an eye on things. Dawn is getting excited for the chicks, insisted on adding a mini perch. :picard:

Got my girls this afternoon. They are white rock pullets. Lg to x lg brown eggs, also meat birds- good broilers. They are doing great. Warming up, then running around, eating, drinking, & scratching.

The chicks are still doing great. Only 1 with pasty butt. They're getting much more curious now. This one took a couple selfies. :D

Interesting... Looks good... I drove 1/2" conduit about 6" to 8" apart into the ground around the parameter of the coop and chicken run. I just checked my cameras yesterday... and Had a Coon and several cat checking out the coop in the last month.

Heres Chunky Monkey..... That area he's checking is the original area that they try to penetrate last fall... So I crissed/crossed from the inside and outside to keep them at bay...

Ill have a sensor out there similar to what's at the end of the driveway. Between that and the motion lights, i should easily get off a shot out the master bathroom window. They will hopefully learn quickly.

I remember when we had chickens a few years back. I had an enclosed and covered run from the chicken door for security when we weren’t around. I had the door on a slide like a guillotine with a rope and handle outside so I didn’t have to go in the run or coop to open or close it. Hardware cloth buried six inches below the ground and up and over the run. Put a corrugated roof on it and never had a problem with predators I’d let them out sometimes when I was around and could keep an eye on them. Biggest problem around here was Red-Tailed Hawks. The chickens would freeze absolutely still if a hawk shadow passed over them.
