I bought another 51 last night. Might need to get another tractor built.

Got a Cornish not moving around very good. Probably a dislocated leg. Going to filet the breasts off in another day or so...it won't make it 2 more weeks when the rest of them go to the butcher.

How do you sex a baby by looks or can you? The 4 new babies were just hatched and not sexed. And I can't have any roosters. But 3 of them have are starting to get combs. I've reading up a bit but still nothing more than a suspicion. Here are a couple of pics..

I think only 3 ways to sex baby chicks-
By color if they are sex links.
Something to do with a difference in wing tip feathers, may be breed specific.
Vent hole sexing, squeezing the poo out of them then look in the poo hole. You'd have to google it and I think it takes lots of practice to get right.

I've seen comb size vary a lot in young chicks, and not due to sex. The same in our grown hens. Saddle feathers are a give away as they get older. I wouldn't do any culling for at least a 2-3 months if it were me.

I started to let some of the grass on the back of the properly grow to about 12 inches or so and gather it all up and hang it from a rope dangling into the run. Chickens love it. Hours of pecking.
