ahh, poor hen. I hope the fox decides it got its dues and moves on so you don't have to take drastic measures.

That would be nice, but once they have a food source it gets harder. He'll be back

Yes he will, and back until he has them all, even then he'll be back looking to see if he has missed any of them. Very clever animals. Might need to set a trap and then keep the dogs away from it.

We lost 2 last year, then things were quiet until now. I'll try a trap again, maybe we'll get lucky

You going for some new hens next spring? Only way to keep in the fresh eggs. Wish I had a few hens. I think 6 is the right number for me. But my family comes down on me like a brick wall when I bring it up. They are all afraid I'll make work for them.

Maybe, we'll see. I've only got room for 16, I'm only down to 13. I think if you got a half dozen, that would be good. Have something built that'll be simple. Something raised for easy egg access. Plus, who doesn't want one of these for gathering eggs?

Hmmm, better yet, an outdoor wall hanging as a simple reminder to others.

I would have to be drunk to put that on. I also doubt if any of the ties would reach around me!

YES!! A head on a stick as a warning. "Beware all ye who enter". In the common fox language, of course.
