    My son had a rooster that would attack his wife every time she came out of the house. Needless to say he ended up as soup!

    The first rooster was meaner. This one has been quite docile yesterday & today. He was locked up at the house, their daughter had down syndrome, but he free ranges here and is loving life!

    It was a dry afternoon, unlike at DaveGunter's place, so I got some straps up. hoping to finish the main roof and then the front roof tomorrow if I get done work in time.

    LOL...I was razzing Well Seasoned about not working in the rain, and then posted some holhauzen building pictures while I was working in the rain...seems the ole boy is made outa sugar...or maybe he's just worried about workin that pretty orange tractor in the rain...doesn't bother the green ones a bit:whistle:

    I believe so. Last year I did make a boxed in area under the coop that consists of sand, dirt, and ash.

    We have problems with these.
    Fox took 5 early one winter morning. We would let them out just before daylight - apparently just a little too early. They go in at sunset, but would come out before it was even light at all.
    The snake is from South Carolina, would eat eggs only. It happens often enough he's even setup for it (hand snake grabber thing).
    The coyote, came strolling through, mid day, a few feet from the supper table window, not a care, got a few doing the run fly run thing several years ago, but not this time. I found feathers every 30 feet where she would land, 3-400 ft, then gone.
    Haven't had a problem with hawks. They glide over and look, but must be afraid of roosty. Those spurs look like they could hurt.

    He said it was a bull snake. Not poisonous. He handled it like it was just another day. I stepped back a little. There are also alligators and water moccasins in the area, so I kind of tip toe around when out for a walk. Don't dip a toe in the water kind of thing.

    The fox are bad here. Lost 2 last year to one. Didn't even care we were outside. Got one anyway. I went after it and won that battle, even though it killed my hen.

    Took the day off yesterday from this project, the whole roof besides the very front is strapped and I'll finish the rest after work this week. Saturday, the plan is all the metal roofing will get put up. We'll have 3-4 guys doing it.
