    The wheel coming off could definitely be an issue.

    So the money wheel is spinning getting the Scania roadworthy, parts only;
    LH tie rod end $700,
    New radiator $1,200
    New rear Scania (cant get aftermarket) mud guards $500
    Electrical gremlins $700
    Plus other small junk and labour.
    Still it will be a great unit once finished. We are going to extend the chassis and mount the crane right at the back as the truck is super light over the drive wheels. I have found a workshop to do the job so there wont be any of my cockysh*t welding.
    The junker goes to the workshop to have the crane and tray removed on Monday. I just want to drive it around to the scrapyard after that but my brother might take it so he can use the front axle for a farm trailer.
    Will post any pics.

    Truck is now roadworthy and heading from the mechanic to the engineers for the crane. Cost $5,500 to get roadworthy which is not fatal but still unpleasant.
    Have decided to extend the wheelbase behind the drive wheels and mount the crane right at the back and put a small tray between the crane and cab. I am hoping there will be enough room on the tray to carry our bobcat but it might be a pretty tight squeeze. Should be able to lift the bobcat on with the crane without any issues.
    These changes will mean we need an engineers certificate so that is more cash but then the whole conversion will be legit which will be nice.
    Takin her over to the engineers shop in the morning so hopefully it will be done in a couple of weeks, then it is rego and a 6 hour drive to fit the pto on the auto gearbox.
    Lotsa fun....

    So we have done the sums on the truck.
    We will extend the chassis and mount the crane behind the drive wheels, put 3.3 metres of tray between the cab and crane and put a pintle hook tow on the back. Full price will be around $15,000. Should be done in a month.
    So we a re looking at around a total of 43,000 USD on the road but she's gonna be a sweet rig....

    That will really pay off too.

    Having to hire a crane for every job has got to be a pain, plus the $$$$$$ and the logistics of scheduling as well.

    New paint on the rig too ????

    Yeah our biggest issue is that the farmers say they will supply an excavator and driver and we end up standing around waiting, a real pain in the butt.
    Nah no new paint. Dont want to be too fancy.

    The Inter is now fully "scun" and I have taken it back to the farm for use as a carrier as a bulk seed bin.
    On a different note; the manager of our poultry farm said to me today "guess what I just won?" I said you won the Lotto!!! No a stock car in a raffle....
    I said what the hell are you gonna do with that which he said dunno.
    Here are the pics I took tonight as it was being delivered

    Yep.
    Havent had a drive yet but they have already made a track behind the chook shed (in the background of the pic) so I will try it out shortly. Worst thing is it is designed to just go round and round a left hand track so it pretty useless at turning right. There is a 4 hour enduro later in the year at the local speedway so we might just enter it for the hell of it. all have a drive and a laugh.

    The truck will be finished this week. All the mods are done and it goes back together today.
    Here is a couple of pics of the job so far, the pic from the back shows the new ducky tray in the background, 3100mm long so we will be able to carry a Smart fortwo or our bobcat on the back. The length of the extension is the black bit at the ;

    DSC_0413.JPG DSC_0410.JPG

    Shes gunna be a sexy beast I reckon:D Might Even buy a big arsed caravan, say a 30 footer, and it will be the ultimate tourer. Much better than a fifth wheeler for half the price.

    So the guys have set up their own stock car track below the chook sheds, here is a pic of me cuttin it up;
