Anything with a reputable name on it. I got some Makita full syn, some Echo powerblend, Red Armor, premixed Husky fuel...used IDK how many of Husky's std mix bottles. None make the saws 'run' better than the others that I can tell, though I like the smell of some better than others. Makita syn smells like dirt bike fuel to me. Music to my nostrils. Never felt the need to venture into the exotics like Amsoil because I've never had any issues with what I have used.

If you manufacture chainsaws in Germany, Sweden or Japan and put your name on a bottle of oil, it'll be fine for any of the saws I own.

That brings back memories...when I was still working at the bike shop we would constantly have kids come in wanting an "aftermarket high performance power band" for their bike...we had prepackaged "powerbands" on the wall from one of the parts distributors...it was a rubber band, was something like $4.95 IIRC, not sure if they ever took it so far as to sell one to somebody or not...

It's a real thing. I remember other kids asking if my RM80 had a powerband back in the day. I understood the 'comedy' of their question.

I have been using either Echo Power Blend Gold or VP Full Synthetic in the 50:1 saws. For the Supmix, I mixed 25:1 with the Power Blend Gold. It's what the Echo dealer up the road stocks. I've always used whatever is at hand in the store.

That was the first start. Since then, it starts much easier than my Husqvarna; 4-5 pulls cold, 1 pull hot. It's only 1 1/2 tank in, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Picked up a case (48) 1-gallon bottles of Makita but, before starting to use it picked up Red Armor and have been using it. All of that was before oil prices started to go through the roof.

I like the smoke to keep the bugs away. Maybe it's mental but seems to work for me.

I don't want to live forever and I smoke anyway. I'm not going to worry about it, today may be my last one anyway.

It's 2.56oz per gallon of fuel vs 3.2oz. That doesn't sound like much, but it's 20% more oil than 50:1.

Oil is one of those things where the line between not enough and just enough is very fine, with clearly defined results on either side. More than enough produces similar results to just enough and too much takes an irrational amount of effort to achieve.
