Very true. Deals to be found and timing is everything. Certain saws have a reputation and cult following...346, MS200 etc. Many sellers know this and try to milk every dollar they can from them.

I could sure tell you something about those people who buy stuff with the only intention of making money but I'll refrain.

I don't know about that, I generally buy things that I know will appreciate and I can sell for a profit if need be. I have a lot of nice to haves because I couldn't pass the deal. Will some of those nice to haves go down the road at some point when I'm done? Probably so and I'll be making a profit or breaking even,

Not a darn thing wrong with it either. I've never forced anyone to pay my price on anything. They can take it or leave it.

Definitely huge increase in chainsaw prices the last few years. Purchased my first 460 Husqvarna four years ago on Amazon for $425. Two years later bought another one for $599 at Lowes with my military discount. And purchased a 372XP a few months ago for $1,108 on Amazon. I use Keepa.com to monitor prices for everything I purchase. The same 372XP is currently listed at $1,799.99. Thought two saws was plenty until I pinched two of them in a bending tree with another one leaning against it and both touching a third. Very embarrassing with my wife watching this fiasco slowly unfold. Didn't really understand all the forces at play. With what I get for firewood in the Nashville area, I'd drop $2,500 on a new quality saw if I think I needed it without hesitation. If I was just cutting a cord or two for my own use, I would choke on current prices. All the parts prices are up substantially also. Glad I have 2-3 years worth of parts, chains, and oil in storage.

I 100% agree with that. I was mainly bitching about the people that do it solely for a living. They're just driving the prices up of used stuff. Makes it harder for us "poor" or "poor minded" people to live.

If you can help it, it doesn't make much sense to buy stuff for personal use and loose money in the long run, i mean, unless you got the cash. Then i wanna buy your nice used stuff for less than half price. These buyers that do it solely for resale are ruining that. Instead of leaving the good deal for someone else who may need it, they'll buy the good deal and flip it for a profit. It just sucks seeing how selfish most people are is all I'm getting at.

It is certainly harder these days to find bargains since there are a lot of people that are searching for bargains in order to resale/flip. Which is why I use keepa.com to monitor new prices on Amazon and Ebay. I also keep my ear close to the ground with local dudes selling saws. Unfortunately, most used saws I come across at a good price are in the 40-50CC range and need expensive parts to get them back in like new condition. I have found that the older dudes that cut wood all their lives that no longer can are the best sources for used stuff. My father being an example. His ten saws are all under-powered and would cost a fortune to get back and running in peak form.

$1,799 plus $17 shipping is current price for a 372XP listed on Amazon. I have your name saved for my next purchase consideration. Seems to be a big mark up over what Husqvarna has listed for saws on their site. Tax and shipping plays a large role in purchasing heavy items costing over $1,000.

I will say the Echo top handle saw I bought a couple weeks ago to replace the smashed top handle Stihl has exceeded my expectations. Always 2nd pull start and easy too and makes descent power. I will open the muff at some point when I have the time.

I have an older Husky top handle that used to be my Dad’s . He bought it after he had a stroke and lost most use with his left hand . Nothing would stop him from cutting some wood for the wood stove . After he passed Mom gave it to me . It’s a super nice trim saw that I use especially in the sugar woods removing branches off of lines .
Thought about a new trim saw to go with the 460 as the husky is getting harder to start and could use some more power . I’d much rather have it ported if it would help instead of buying new .

I see sellers inflating prices on Amazon all the time when an item is harder to find. I have learned to keep an eye outa and not just assume that Amazon has the best price.

Exactly. Often they do not have the best price but if you figure in your time and fuel to drive somewhere to purchase in person, sometimes its a wash. As far as 2t oil goes, I find online cycle shops often have better pricing.

I try to buy local regardless of price unless it's a crazy difference. Local people are what help pay my bills. Least i can do is try and keep my money local or with "local" type folks online.
