Got to use the new 400 today. The 180 actually did the felling, because I didn't want to risk hitting metal with the new saw. The 400 did most of the rest. A buddy has a bunch of dead post oaks. One in particular has scared me longer than I like to admit, because he let's his kids play close, and I have warned him. I laid that potential killer down today. In my opinion I made a fair notch, and back cut, but I didn't leave nearly enough "hinge", if you can call it that on such a dry dead tree. It sat down on my back cut and I wedged it over where I wanted it to go. It fell exactly where I was aiming for, within two feet anyways. Between a playset and two other post oaks. No damage. Also cut down 4 more dead ones, and they landed where intended. I had to wedge one to make it go where I wanted. These were not nearly as critical as the first. Edit: If you see something wrong with this or unnecessarily unsafe, please teach/save me.
Good job getting it down safely. Those dead ones can be scary. Got a big dead white oak a friend has been after me to cut down. Maybe out of my league. Close to wires and I'm turning chicken in my old age. How do you like the 400?
It's pretty sweet. It sounds good, and it isn't noticeably heavy. When I pick up the 180 it feels like a toy now. I didn't even run the 400 dry of it's first tank of fuel during this. I gave it the juice, so hopefully it's going to break in well.
I like my g288s they are the best of the clones I've worked on i haven't messed with the g395 yet The g288 runs neck and neck with my oem 288s I have a oem mike lee ported 288 that's just brutal and a beaglebriar ported me a oem cylinder for my g288 i need to put on I ordered a nh895 customer return saw to try out it was only 137.00 shipped from neotec But they sent the wrong saw It was new never used I'll trade it for something They are sending me a nh395 this week.
I've never had to opportunity to run a stock or ported Husky 288 so I can't compare mine to anything. It's the largest displacement saw I own and really don't need it, but for the price I couldn't resist after reading that you've had good luck with them. I've always liked the way the 288's sounded but it's always been on video, never in person. I ported mine myself and I'm a hack but it runs well by my standards. I figured a big saw would be nice for the 32" and 42" bars I have that I pulled with my 362 prior to getting this. The plating in the Holtzforma cylinder held up well while porting. I had no flaking or other issues with it at all. I did use the stock piston with adhesive sandpaper to cut through the plating in the head so Ethan could cut the squish easier.
Too hot for this guy to work outside so I’m doing a basement clean out. My saw “shop” is down there. For someone that doesn’t use a case, they seem to find me too often.
I really like it when the tune is right. Right now I’m chasing something off on H, so I keep turning the screw to re find the sweet spot.
Adjusting carbs not for me. My patience isn't that good. I tried on my 335 for 20 minutes using mfrs specs from scratch and nearly threw the thing into the woods. I bought my 194t soon after. 201t was a you suck deal I found a year later. I like the mtronic for the most part although I've noticed the hot weather seems to mess them up.
I bought a used Husky saw at a yard sale last week. Haven't gotten to try it out yet...can't find the fuel tank.
