I don’t truly need anything larger than my 268XP, it’s probably my favorite saw to run. The 395 is a handful stock, guys making a living with them would probably disagree and want them ported, but at 94cc’s it just grunts. I have never ran a 88cc (288 or 390) Husky, so tomorrow will be neat to see where it falls between the 395 and 372/272/268 as far as weight to power and the all important factor. Darn, is this thing going to run out of gas soon so I can take a break factor?
That happened with my 400 the other day. No porting, but West coast bark box and foam air filter help its power but has a drinking problem! Id love to run a 2511. One of my OPE dealers sells the big three for saws. One day the Echo rep was there and had discounts on all of their brand. Shouldve bought one.
They are sweet little saws. A muffler mod, timing advance and carb limiters removed improves them nicely I've read. Echo should, however, sell them with either 1/4 pitch or the 3/8 low profile .043 narrow kerf bar and chain that is listed on their site under accessories for this saw. Its what I use and the chattering the standard 3/8 lp has is absent.
Passing through HD I stopped i the rentals thinking all they had were Echos. Nice surprise to still see Makita
Just picked this Husky 51 a week ,or so ago . About as close to new looking as it could be .For instance : That is the original air filter
Oh , and then the following Saturday night , I get a call from none other than Mastermind . The gist of the call was that I had won first pick in a drawing that I had forgotten about . So , this is my pick … It was furnished and ported by Stump Shot ,over on OPE . The Pics don’t do it justice !
I believe ,going by it’s serial # ,it was built in late 1994 . The guy that owns it doesn’t run gas powered ope very often . It affects his breathing . I asked some folks what the price range for one of these puppies would be . I offered him what everyone considered top price . He was thinking about taking it to a swap meet ! Glad he asked me to get it running …
So the 390 comes in a little closer to the 2511, ohh, its starting to run out of fuel, great break time.
