My BIL has a 10mm o44 with a muffler mod... I let him run my 2172 and he couldn't stop giggling.

the 044 is great, if its your only saw and you've never run a 371/372/375 (372xpw non XT). Hell the new 372Xtorqs are light years ahead of a stock 044. if I hear one more story about a 10mm 044 out running a 046 magnum, I'm going to puke.

2172 is an x-torq. It's ported... But still, 10mm's are so awesome, no porting is necessary. :D

yup, my 10mm 044 made me sell my 7900, 064 with a ported 066 topend, my 394, my 365's, my 272, my 046's. Hell i even sold an Oly999 because the 044 was a light saber. It played jedi mind tricks and didn't usually even have to get out of the truck to fell big timber

Funny 'cuz my Mastermind 064 has neither a dual port muffler or an HD-2 filter... And I would bet my next paycheck that it will outcut either of his 10mm's!

I don't doubt that at all.. I am not on the 10 mm boat. :) I have a 12 mm myself :dex:

10 mm run good, but it's not the be all, end all.

10mm runs good but not much ahead of the others. I've had a few stock and ported. I'd rather have a 372 myself.

One of my two current saws, Craftsman with a 20 inch bar, and a pile of freshly cut oak in the background.:)

I like the saw so far but would love a Husky or a Stihl.
    And thanks DexterDay.

All that matters, is that it gets the job done for you. Everyone has different likes and dislikes in saws. What matters the most, is that it works in your situation.

Look forward to your pics and stories.
