I have newer and more expensive saws but I always grab the MS260 if it can handle the job

Nice saw! I still have my circa 1992 026 (original owner) My only saw for many years. Cut a lot of wood with it. Sat for over ten years "hidden" in a shed and was revived. It actually started after sitting that long without being tweaked. I should run it soon.

Buzzsaw Brad I had two 026s before the 260 Loved them both. The 260s not all original, b/c carb fuel line/filers "no engine work" but she's still strong and capable. And light and easy to handle for me. My big saw I have a ms462, but I always go for the 260 if it will do the job.

My first Stihl was an 028 my late uncle bought me in 1985 when i was 17. Saw later ruined on raw gas. The 026 replaced it. I bought a nice used 028 in his memory couple years ago.

Customer of mine has a new in box 260. The box caught my eye when i was working in his garage last Fall. Ive tried to get it from him in trade for work the last several months to no avail.

My 261c (16" bar) is my go to saw along with several others including a 462c i bought in January.

I lost one of the 026 to ex-wife and one stolen, then bought the 260 I currently have. The guy with new in box 260 has got incredible self control..lol ..when the 260 finally gives up I will get a 261. Nice story about your uncle RIP. I like the power of the 462 but I find I have got to man handle the saw which wears on me, so I use it only when needed.

The guy with the 260 got it for free and doesnt cut wood. Somehow a family member worked for utility company which bought several saws. There were a few leftover that were getting thrown away.
