This may like an odd pic . But , the coil on one of those Homelites in the above pics is dead . I was looking for a possible replacement coil ( $$$$!!!!) ,when a ran across this idea . Homelite Wico/Prestolite Blue Ignition Coil Hopefully it’ll work . I’ll post the results ,good ,or bad once I have the saw back together . EDIT: Believe it ,or not , the it worked ! Cooked the coil for about 20 hrs. At 180-200*. When I first reinstalled it ,no spark ! Pro tip : Flip the kill switch to the run position when testing a coil after installation ...
So they are finally available in the U.S.??? I would have bought one earlier this winter if they’d been available. Got a 562 instead. Now that I have CAD I think I wanna another bigger one. And that’s what I’m leaning toward. Let know your honest opinion of it
One passed through my house a week or two ago (572 XP) - I put a pic up a couple of pages back. I hefted it to test the weight, but no bar on it, and too much saw for my needs anyway. He paid $799 as part of some multi-saw purchase package. Here’s an ad from the March Northern Logger, so I’d assume they are available.
About a week ago Husqvarna web site still had them listed “coming in March” instead of a MSRP. it’ll be a while before I can afford one anyway. But a man has to have a dream, right?
My dealer has had the Xp’s available for a few weeks . I had a standing order for an xpg . It took a couple of weeks extra to come in for some reason . So far , I only have about a tank and a half through it . It’s very smooth vibration wise . It wears a 28” bar ,running square ground chain . I have been breaking it in on some 36” white oak logs . You have to lean on it pretty hard to get it to drop out of it’s power range with the bar burried ,so the thing has good torque . I’m told it will get better yet as I get more tanks through it . This may be the saw that gets me to leave the Dolmar 7910 at home more , we’ll see .
Yes , I realize that that would be a tall order . Mea Culpa ! It’s a shame that Makita hasn’t made much progress here as far as advertising and establishing dealers . They ( Dolmar / Makita ) are very underated and underappreiated saws .
I got my 288 powder coated, built, ported and now it's running. New parts and decals are on order. In the end it will have a black top cover and v-stack with Uni filter.
Yes, sir. A tall order indeed. I love my Dolmars most of all and was very sad when Makita decided to sort of kill off the brand.
In today’s episode of wth, I present to you’s.. a Husky my son (who works at the local TSC) brought home for $50. Customer brought it back stating it won’t stay running. Wonder if his had anything to do with it? He ended up buying a bigger saw.
I think so. Ain’t much of a saw though. My dad has had one for a while now and I’m not impressed at all. They are very lite, I will say that. Weather is beautiful today so it’s time to work my log pile a little.
But the price was right. All I had until early February was a husky 345. I couldn’t ask for a more reliable saw. Looking back, I can’t believe how much firewood It’s generated. But now that I have CAD it’ll probably suffer from neglect,
