    028 buildoff saw is almost done... Time to experiment with different carbs...
    It just has the crappy .325 bar and chain it came with right now... I'll break it in, then outfit it with a 16" 3/8, like it was meant to have... :yes:


    At least the oiler works decent on this one...

    How about some Poulan Pro 655's? The rear saw is actually a Pioneer P-65.

    Taking a break yesterday afternoon. Cleaned it up a bit.Trusty mid '70s 10-10 Automatic.Snarky little 12.5lb beast with loads of torque.Will outcut a newer Stihl 290 Farm Boss or Husqvarna 455 Rancher of similar displacement & weight. :saw: Need to get a spike for this & its 7-10 big brother someday soon.

    Yellow & red ones both are scarce in my area (except for the occasional late model plastic junk) & especially anything bigger than 60cc.Nice older Poulan's pop up from time to time,not the 70cc+ ones that I'd be interested in unfortunately.

    The screamer back to life...... :saw:
    Back when Poulan made only farm/ranch & pro duty saws & not the light duty plastic homeowner crap you see today....1981 56cc screamer,after 100+ cords,7 bars,2 spark plugs,2 clutch sprockets,3 air filters & 30+ full chisel 20" chains hand-filed to nothing,it was basically ''retired'' in 2002ish.Would get it out for kicks once in a while.Now has new fuel lines/filter,retuned carb.You wont find a newer Husqvarna 455 Rancher or Stihl 290/291 Farm Boss of similar displacement that will out cut this thing.

    Only 12.5 lbs,all magnesium case,automatic oiler w/ manual override,full anti-vibration rubber mounts,chrome plated cylinder/dual thin piston rings for more RPMs,after all those years of abuse the compression is still 150+ PSI.

    The saw I cut my teeth on,so to speak,all those years ago.Nice to have it back again.

    Even PHO with no mix or oil that weight is way off. Have weights with plastic or mag cover and weights with chain brake or without. Which do you have? They are all over 14lbs to 15lb range.

    Mine has no chain brake,never had one.Only plastic hand guard.Mag starter,plastic top covers,mag clutch cover.13 pounds on accurate bathroom scale,I don't have a digital one.

    I see that's a 3700 in the photo,that's 3.7 cid,right? Unless its a 3700 starter housing on a 3400.....

    4000 3400 I owned.

    My stock 4000 I sold for $200. Running square work chain. Also had 2 sets of new thin rings for the 4000.
