Found this on Craigslist today. Also a 24" Windsor bar included + a 051 PHO. Pretty excited to run this saw. My first poulan saw. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Thanks I had never seen one until today and it's in pretty good condition. The muffler sounds amazing. Sure don't make saws like this anymore. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
That's quite a sought after Poulan for sure, and it's in great shape. I agree I love the older saws myself.
Little brother to my 4200 & 5200,this recent Feebay bargain is one of the cleanest examples of these I've seen in a long time.Low hour saw, runs strong with great compression, gonna replace fuel/impulse lines, fuel filter in a few days. One of the best most reliable mid sized firewood saws still, some 34 years after it was discontinued. Very popular model,no newer stock Stihl 290/291 Farm Boss or Husqvarna 455 Rancher will out cut this beast,I've proven it myself. Gonna retire Dad's 1981 model a second time for good now,use this one instead from here on out....
The mufflers on those 4200/5200 saws are great........I pattern my muffler mods after those. A simple pipe off the side blowing forward and down just a little, works good. Take good care of the air filter, they are super hard to locate. You can re flock them, though, from what I have read. Nice saw!
Nice example of an early model. Easy to work on, robust and reliable. With new seals and oil pump diaphram in the mix, it should perform like new. I had the itch and ran half a tank through one of mine yesterday. Always enjoyable.
Yeah simple and yet very effective. That's funny you say that about the air filter. I was thinking the same thing and was looking on eBay and picked up a pack of 3 NOS air filters. We will see when they arrive the real condition of them. Pictures are never promising. Cheers guys! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
