Katie is a lot of fun actually. A few years ago we installed a wood/coal boiler and the guys on the coal site helped me a lot in getting it properly installed. They thought Katie was cute so they said "post a picture of your wife next to the new stove so we can see which one is better looking", teasing and joking of course. I told Katie, so she went and put on her little red dress and did a photo shoot in front of that boiler knowing the pictures were going onto a coal forum. It was the same in this case, and the photo shoot we did for the MS 461 when it was new (posted on this thread somewhere).

We have done quite a few themed-based photo-shoots over the years, and this is one of the ones of that wood/coal boiler photo shoot I was talking about.

 

895 gear drive - legendary 6.3 cube/103cc beast produced from February 1966 to December 1971.
I replaced the smaller factory spike with that massive H & S late 60's aftermarket one from my 895 parts donor.Check out that little metal tag on the rear handle - California Forestry Division. Also has a scarce Oregon 30" universal mount .404 hard nose bar with very good 1/2" pitch chain (not in photo) - with mounting holes to fit McCulloch,Homelite & Remington/Mall saws.....

 

CP125 - 7.5 cube/123cc,produced from August 1969 to May 1971. A scarce model now,not as many sold or still around compared to its upgraded replacements,the still very popular Super Pro 125 & 125C.

 

I'll think I will keep the wife and take the Husqvarna 562 and get my money back. I am not impressed with this saw at all.

I was cutting through a 10 inch diameter Ash log today, and while I admit it was dry because it sat all summer, the saw kept bogging half way through it. This happened on every round I cut. Then on a few other piece, it not only bogged out, it stalled out...twice. Even as a yard saw, I cannot tolerate that.

That's odd your 562 bogging out and stalling like that might be the autotune learning. My 562 has run flawless for me for almost 3 yrs now. It's not the most powerful thing I've run but it is light, nimble, and has great throttle response.

 

I never thought of that, that probably just what it is.

I will say I ran mine hard from day one clearing out the pipeline right away though our farm.

 

Yeah I did not run it hard today at all. As I said in another post, I have a pot bellied stove so my firewood is what most people call branches and saplings. I won't cut anything over 5 inches in diameter and anything longer then 6 inches. Chunks in other words. So 99% of what I cut was saplings/limbs. I cut this over my dump body on my log trailer, so it was not taxed at all.

But I left behind an ash log for some reason...crook, knot, or defect, and not wanting to waste it, I picked it up with the log loader and cut it into rounds. That was when I noticed it bogging down. I never thought of the autotune self-tuning, or the engine just breaking in. It was still on its first or second tank of gas.

 

Most are running around 10 tanks full before seeing it run to it's full potential. I do the same thing for my maple arch and campfires with the small stuff people think I'm crazy but I'll take all the small stuff I can get.

 

Even if it's not broke in yet, it should not be bogging/acting that way. The 562's are hot rods even in stock form, they'll rip right through wood that size. Ya gots something going on......maybe the Auto tune needs set or reset.

Hi guy's I've been falling a lot of tree's for the neighbors and friends.
Usually a 288 but this spring i built a 365 into a 372 it's my main falling/bucking saw now.
Most of us burn wood here.

 

Surrounding farm's have thousands of dead ash it's still good wood for now.
So I've been dropping it for everyone to load up for winter.
They have been hard on the neighbor's fences when they shed limbs.

 

My brothers 2000 model husqvarna 288 he gave it too me when he retired from logging it was his backup wasn't used much.
I refreshed it recently with a new meteor/caber lines seals and a carb kit.
Still my favorite felling saw I've been running these since they came out we had a 281 before.

 

I'm building two more 288s for friends they supplied the bucket's of pawnshop find 288s.
One is finished the last one will be a non decomp and have the worst looking parts but it will be all new under the hood.

I bought two of the 590s over 5 year's ago no info back then.
275.00 shipped ebay so i figured i would give them a try.
Never started the second one.
The first one with a muff mod and retune cut hundreds of tree's and many many load's of firewood.
Like these a lot.
Ported i recently and cut down a oem 372 full wrap for it.
Good saw's.
