Traded a 52 cc Chinese saw and 2 new chains for this 266xp today. The 266 isn't oiling but it's running good. I don't know anything about the 266xp but figured it had to be worth the 80 dollars I paid for the 52cc. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
Hmmm . . . "Chainsaw Pics" thread. Well, this is not a chainsaw, but it's not-not a chainsaw. I bought this off an acquaintance of mine who had it sitting under a bench in his saw shop for many years. It was on his brother's go-cart when they were kids. I tried to buy it several years ago, but they wouldn't let it go. Thankfully that changed! My intention was to part it out, but now that I've had a chance to get a close look at it I'm not sure if I can! I think it's going to sit on the shelf just as it is...
Yep. That's an early 55. Recoil sticker gives it away. Certain words are missing. That's the giveaway
I saw the bumps on the side of the cylinder where where the transfer ports are. They do not do that on open ports.
Here is my stable. The one that sees the most use The one I prefer for limbing My Craigslist $300 find and that was 5 yrs ago My favorite for bigger wood I realize most of you guys have your pics out in the wide. It's too snowy, windy and cold for that today so these will have to suffice. I have about finished going through these and getting them ready for the next big push. I try and remember to get some while they're out in their preferred environment.
Yep. Yep. The also have ++++ on the bottom side of the cylinder on the clutch side(many times covered in grime), and when viewed from the top they have a different shape on the recoil side(OP has a round shape and the CL has a round she with an angle in the middle). Another trait is the cooling fins on the back recoil side, on the open port the cylinder bolt holes only go thru 3 fins and on the CP the bolt holes go thru 6 fins. You sure Dex, you saw my mistake on the "310". That is not the original cover to that saw, but your correct it is off another CP.
I never even new about that one(never owned an 039), that's what's great about the forums, the continued learning if your willing. So where I'm at now with it is no decomp and no flippys so an 029, 029 super, or a 039. Any tips appreciated on figuring out which one it is. Thanks everyone.
For sure, it's great as I said to have all the pictures here in one place for comparing and the knowledge of so many as well. If you guys want some pictures showing the differences let me know as I have both here right now. But much like the government does in regards to looking for counterfeit money, if you know what the CP looks like you will know that an OP is not one. Now we need to see this one with the cover off it to see if the trend continues unless you know already which one it is casper. Edit. So which saw is this CP or OP, and which cylinder is the AM cylinder in this video modeled after. :40sec gives a clear view the cylinder, and 2:10 the recoil cover.
