That is what I thought but the angle made it look odd at first. A 288 well that should pull a 28" bar.

Durn you Dexter, you beat me to it. I am interested if you are not. I have 2 unopened rolls of Oregon 3/8ths, 50 gauges I could part with a little.

There wasnt any instructions with this thing, so I looked up some YouTube videos. It looks like some people have issues breaking punches, and some people grind the rivet heads off first.

Anybody here grind the heads first? What do you use?

I have ground the rivet heads down some. It does make it easier to punch them out.

    I forgot I use a Dremel

Line them up good and I've not broken a punch yet. I've made up 5 rolls of chain and shortened and lengthened countless loops.

I grind the heads off the rivets, most of the time. I use a cheap Harbor Freight breaker spinner combo- good little tool, for what it is. Ive use my fordom Chinese knock off, 4.5 angle grinder, air grinder, depends where Im at really. Ive not used mine as much as others here. But it gets the job done.

Yup, and if don't feel like it's going right, stop. It's not centered. Don't ask me how I know that.:emb:

However if one were to somehow bend the tip on the punch. It can be dressed up a bench grinder and it's stronger afterwards since it has more supporting metal.
